Hi I'm Mark

I'm a Jewish convert to the Church, joining when I was 19 years old. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of three children, two of whom are grown and living on their own. The Church has given me so much and has helped me raise my children, I know, as Heavenly Father wanted me to. One of my greatest experiences was working alongside my oldest son as he achieved his Eagle Scout award. He worked so hard to complete all his requirements; I'm so very proud of him. My daughter graduated from BYU, then went on to achieve her Masters Degree in Special Education. Sports has been a big part of my life and my family's as well. I still play golf often.

Why I am a Mormon

I was introduced to the Church by my future bride, Barbara. Being Jewish, I had never met a Mormon before. I visited Barbara when she was attending BYU. One night we traveled to Salt Lake City to visit Temple Square. I noticed there was a Star of David in the window of the Meetinghouse. It so happened that at that time a missionary was walking by so we asked her why the Star of David was there. She said it was there as a symbol to call the Jews back to Israel. After she said this I felt as if a bolt of lightening had struck me. When I returned home I began to take the introductory discussions from two missionaries who were around my same age (19). They put no pressure on me to join the Church. They were very patient with me and very kind. I was amazed at how confident and mature they were for their age. The missionaries gave me a copy of the Book of Mormon which I began reading. I remember the last portion of the Book I read in one night, locked in my bedroom at home. I read Moroni's promise. When I finished reading the Book of Mormon, I kneeled and prayed for a long time. I asked Heavenly Father to tell me if this Book and the Gospel were true. I asked if Jesus Christ was true and if he were truly His Son. I promise you that I received a resounding answer of YES: all of it is true! I felt this deep in my heart and in my mind.

How I live my faith

I look forward to attending Sunday services each week. I have the great opportunity to a Gospel lesson each month that helps me to grow further in the Gospel.
