Hi I'm Lila

I live in Utah, I have a large family, I love working with little children and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a Mom with 10 children who are grown and all but one are married with families of their own. We love to get together as a family. Most live near us and we see them often. I love to work with children and have taught preschool and piano lessons. We have a fairly small yard, but I love gardening with my husband. He is retired and we spend a lot of time together serving our family and in our church callings. I have really loved to be able to teach my own grandchildren in preschool and piano. It is so much fun to watch our children raise their children.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the church, but I think each person at some point in their lives needs to decide if the church is really true and if that is how they really want to live. I had my moments as a teenager where I made plenty of mistakes. But I always knew that the gospel was true and that I needed to live my life in a way that I could become more like Jesus Christ. I have a long way to go, but I try every day to improve my life. I was lucky enough to find a wonderful man who shared my beliefs and also wants to live the gospel. We raised our children in a gospel centered home, and I don't regret that choice. I love the gospel and the direction it gives in my life. I am thankful to know that my Savior loves me and loves you. He knows each of us individually and cares about what happens in our lives. He understands what we are going through and will be there to help us through the hard times of our lives.

How I live my faith

In our ward I have served in many places, particularly with the children in the Primary. I have taught classes, taught the music (my favorite spot) and been in leadership with the children. I have also spent about 6 years working with the young women (ages 12-18). I have a much harder time relating to teenagers, but I quickly learned to love that opportunity too. Heavenly Father always knows where you need to grow. I also spent some time serving with the women in the church. That was also a little uncomfortable for me, but as I served the women my love for them grew. A couple of years ago, we decided to do a part-time service mission for the church. It wasn't much different from having a normal "calling" in the church because everything we do in the church is meant to serve others. It is voluntary and usually gives us a chance to grow and strengthen ourselves. For our service mission, we worked in the Spanish Ward (or congregation) in our area. The meetings are held in Spanish. Neither my husband nor I speak Spanish, but we were told it wouldn't matter. We learned a few words, but most of the people knew some English. They were really appreciative of everything we did. I spent most of my time helping with the music (playing the piano and organ for them and teaching them to play the piano and organ.) We have just received a call to serve as full-time missionaries in another state for the next 18 months. We look forward to that opportunity.
