Hi I'm Marilla

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

One of the things that I love most is spending time in the outdoors with my family. Canoeing, hiking, camping, cross country skiing, no matter the season I always seem to find a pack on my back! When it's not my hiking pack that I'm carrying it's my school pack. I'm majoring in Urban Studies and hope to go on to do my Masters of Architecture. I think that life is a lot like creating a building. You start with the foundation and then build up. Without the foundation it doesn't matter how beautiful the building is, someday it will fall. I'm grateful to have the gospel as my never failing foundation. I have a firm belief that if I follow in the footsteps of my Savior that I can create a beautiful life- a building that will never fall.

Why I am a Mormon

I want you to imagine for a moment a foggy window. When you look through this window you can't tell exactly what is on the other side. Your view is clouded. The fog also filters the light that comes through the window leaving the room you are in dim and cold. Now I want you to imagine a tall stained glass window. This window fills the room with warmth and light. It is clear, colourful, and magnificent. This is why I am a Mormon. The gospel fills my life with light and love. The source of that light is my Savior and I can see him clearly. I know that I want to return to live with Him and my Heavenly Parents. I know that His gospel is the way to eternal joy.

How I live my faith

I spend a lot of time with my family and this really helps me to stay true to my faith. They have taught me how to be kind, how to be honest, how to be a hard worker, and how to find joy in everything that I do. I try to share this joy with others because I know that it's what the Savior would do. Our goal is to become perfect like the Savior and so each day I try to live a life that He would. One of my favourite scriptures is Galations 2: 20 which reads: "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me." It's by His faith that I now live His gospel. I live His gospel because I know that He died for me so that when I make a mistake I can become clean again. He loves us so much and I simply want others to have a knowledge of that love as well. I live my faith each day by trying to show that love to those around me.
