Hi I'm Stephanie Smith

I grew up in Oregon. I have a heart for art, music, and travel. I love Thai food. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My home of Bend, Oregon has planted within me a love of all things outdoors and adventure. I'm now a student at Brigham Young University, and I'm absolutely loving my experiences and memories so far. I'm undecided as to what I hope to study, but I know I want to be with people and help others. I love to be involved and work with my hands. I have a passion for culture and traveling, and I hope to continue to learn and explore throughout my life. I love all things music, art, and literature. Thai food and sunflowers make me happy happy! I grew up in a wild family of six: my dad, mom, older brother, older sister, and younger sister. My family has grown as my older siblings are now happily married and are starting to have children of their own. I'm grateful for all I have learned through my family. I am so joyful to know we have the opportunity to continue being caring, hilarious, ridiculous, and loving with one another for eternity.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because I have come to know throughout my life by the Holy Ghost that the gospel of Jesus Christ is true. Growing up in a faithful Mormon home has been such a blessing; I was always taught about God and Jesus Christ. I am not one to blindly follow, so I often seek for personal knowledge of truth. Many times my faith has been put into question. I grew up going to school as one of few Mormons and had many opportunities to defend my beliefs. These experiences strengthened my faith and dependence on the gospel. Everyone has trials to go through, including me. There are many times I feel weak and alone. As I pray wholeheartedly, search diligently in the scriptures, and listen to the prophets, the spirit comforts me and gives me the strength I need to endure. I have felt the love of God and Jesus Christ in my life; although I'm prone to mistakes, I feel by the spirit of their unconditional and incomprehensible love. Through Jesus Christ, we all may be made perfect and return to live with God. I know of my divine potential. I know the Book of Mormon is true; it is the very evidence! I know Jesus Christ is my Savior, older brother, and best friend. I know God is my loving Father in Heaven. I am eternally grateful for this knowledge, and I hope to share it. The gospel brings true light and purpose to my life. I am Mormon because it fills me with joy!

How I live my faith

My faith gives me purpose for life; I try to live it every day. I served many callings growing up, such as organizing dances, activities, and events for the church youth. I loved finding ways to involve the youth in good environments. Now at school, I organize weekly activities and spiritual lessons for a group of peers in my church. I also have the opportunity to monthly visit and teach fellow women in my church. I love to uplift those around me, and I strive to be improve in my service and become more like Jesus Christ. I am serving a full-time 18 month mission for my church in the Arizona Mesa mission. I report June 4th, 2014, and I will be teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ in the English language. It is incredible to already feel a love for the people there! I know that through faith, obedience, and endurance, I will be able to work with the spirit and help others find the truthfulness that has so greatly impacted my own life.
