Hi I'm Brenda

I am a single Canadian who lives with another couple, a dog and a cat and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am the youngest of two children and have lived most of my life in Ontario, Canada. In my career I specialized in human resources roles in medical settings. I have travelled across Canada and down both coasts of the United States. I have a rescued dog that was abused plus a stray cat that came along my way. I have an interest in family history and geneology and really enjoy finding out about my ancestors.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of our emphasis on family. The family is the fundamental unit for God's plan here on earth. Of course, no family is perfect but we learn and grow within our family. We also want to know our family history, who our ancestors were and where they came from. Especially in a country like Canada that was built on immigrants, it is fun to learn about my grandparents and beyond. I am second generation Canadian on my father's side and third generation on my mother's side. I greatly enjoy finding out about my ancestors and what prompted them to leave their home and move to a strange land across the ocean. That is fascinating to me. I was introduced to the Church by two missionaries who knocked on my door. Our religion is a way of life, not just a place we go on Sunday. I want to serve others and I want to continuously learn and I want to be around others who have similar goals. One of our Articles of Faith says that we believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men. If there is anything virtuous, lovely or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

How I live my faith

I have been a Mormon for over two decades now and have had many roles in those years. I have worked with our primary children up to age 12 but right now I am involved with the adult women. Service is a huge part of our faith and we work on many projects throughout the year helping other people and groups. This year we will be helping the homeless men in our community and we also will be building new mother kits for women abroad. The role I love the most is that of teacher. We get to study the scriptures and have many avenues for learning about those who have served before us. I find that you learn so much when you teach and I love feeling the Holy Ghost when you connect with your students.
