Hi I'm Karen

I grew up in Oregon. I am a student, a mother, a wife. I am a Mormon.

About Me

Right now I am going back to college. I have my Cosmetology license and worked for years in a salon. I finished my Associate's degree in General studies December 2013. Now I am working on my Bachelor's in Marriage and Family Studies. I love learning and am enjoying going back to school. I love to run, read, create things, scrapbooking, card making. I love music, but I can't play the piano or read music. Music makes me relax and feel peaceful. I am a Mom to 3 kids. My oldest is 19 and serving an 18 month mission for the LDS church in Detroit, Michigan. My son is 17 and a senior in High School. My youngest is 12 and in the 6th grade. They keep me busy with all their activities. I love to be a Mom, but it's the hardest thing I have ever done!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon because it is the only thing that has brought me lasting happiness in this life. I grew up in the Mormon church and I have wonderful parents who taught me and loved me. When I was 16, I began to question my beliefs and needed to find out for myself if this church was the right one for me. After a few years of rebelliousness and making some poor choices, I decided I did not want to live that way anymore. I decided that the only thing that made me REALLY happy was living the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I am so grateful for the principle of repentance and forgiveness. I know that we have a loving Heavenly Father who wants so badly for us to be happy and wants us to return back to him some day. Life is full of trials and unhappy things, but I know that we can make it through these hard times through Jesus Christ. I love this church and I am so glad that I was born and raised in this church. I still make mistakes, but I know that I can be forgiven and that there is a plan for me. I am so grateful for that!

How I live my faith

At church I work with the 14 and 15 year old girls. I teach them a lesson every Sunday. The topics vary, but they are all about how the girls can be closer to Jesus Christ and become a better person. I love working with the youth. When I was their age I had a leader that really took me under her wing and loved me no matter what trouble I was getting into. She was a great example to me and I am so thankful for people who live their religion and are always selfishly serving others.
