Hi I'm Alison

I'm a dietitian working with families to improve their lives through proper nutrition. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm in my mid-20s working full-time as a dietitian where I provide nutrition counseling to low-income women and families. I love anything to do with food: shopping, preparing, cooking and ESPECIALLY eating. I was blessed with parents who encouraged me to pursue music as a child and am lucky to share my talents through piano and choir. I LOVE to travel...my favorite part is, of course, sampling the local cuisine. I'm grateful to have two wonderful parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters (whom I adore) and a fantastically tight and supportive extended family.

Why I am a Mormon

I have always been a member of the Church but still had to go through my own personal conversion. The gospel of Jesus Christ shapes every decision I make. I have yet to discover another way to live that brings me as much happiness and fulfillment, and I doubt I'll ever find one. I have many faults and I mess up A LOT. Instead of feeling guilty or giving up I look to my Savior. He provides a reason to improve. "Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy-laden and I will give you rest." (Matt 11:28) I share my burden with Him and He helps me through. He is my constant guide and source of light and inspiration. I know that I can live with my Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ again, free from the cares and sorrows of this world. I know that the Atonement of Jesus Christ is essential to my salvation. Eternal life would not be possible without it. I know that the Book of Mormon is God's word through my study of it. As I read I feel the peace only the Spirit of the Lord can provide. I know my Savior more intimately because of the truths the Book of Mormon contains. I know that Joseph Smith truly saw God the Father and Jesus Christ and They directed him to translate the Book of Mormon and organize The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The priesthood that Christ exercised during His earthly ministry has been restored to the earth. Families can be together forever. There is so much more beyond this life and we are asked to learn the way of eternity here and now. I am forever grateful for the grace and mercy of my Savior. I know I wouldn't be the person I am without the gospel. Truth and happiness are here. I testify that these things are true in the name of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

Immersing myself in my church has helped me develop and maintain meaningful relationships, make friends, and strengthen my faith in my Savior. I feel keenly the responsibility of all members to follow Christ's example and care for and strengthen others through sharing testimony, truth and service. I have had the privilege to serve in leadership among the women in my ward and organize the music for our sacrament meetings. I have daily contact with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ through prayer and scripture study. I'm striving to emulate the Savior through serving others and overcoming my own shortcomings.
