Hi I'm Anika

I love culture, spending time in the outdoors is my passion and I want to see the world. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

Student at Brigham Young University-Hawaii. I love different cultures, different places, I love change, I love new. Hiking and exploring the outdoors are my passion. I love meeting new people and serving others. It's cliche, but I dream of a life traveling and helping people around the world. Serving in the France Lyon Mission.

Why I am a Mormon

While I am a Mormon simply because I was born into the Church, there is so much more to it. I am a Mormon because I have a testimony of Jesus Christ and The Book of Mormon. Joseph Smith truly did restore the Gospel. There is no way the Book of Mormon could have been made up by a fourteen-year old farm boy-it is far too complex. And because I know he did not make it up, I know that it was through revelation and guidance from God. It was made for us in our day. Being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints gives me hope. We are a religion of progression, always looking forward. I know that there is something for us after we pass on from this life. We are on this earth to return back to our loving Father in Heaven. The Gospel gives me peace. While I do not know everything about the doctrine, I know that living the basic doctrine can bless lives. Striving to be Christ-like will bless us immensely in our everyday lives. What can be wrong or false about that?! This is the true Church and we have a living prophet today, who still receives guidance and revelation from God.

How I live my faith

Actions often speak louder than words and they often lead to people's first impressions. I try to live my life in a way that shows my beliefs and values through the way I treat others. Service has always been a huge part of my heart. I realize that I have been very fortunate to have been born into the church to very loving, hard-working parents that only want the best for me. "Because I have been given much, I too must give", and because of that, I have chosen to serve a mission. I want to share the joy I have from living the Gospel standards and the peace it gives me. Sacrificing a year and half of my life to serve the Lord does not seem like enough time for me, and so when I return home, I plan on traveling and joining humanitarian organizations to help those who are not as fortunate. I have often wondered why it was me that was born into such a life, while there are plenty of others suffering. While I do not know the answer to this, I do know that I have been given the ambition and desire to help others around the world.
