Hi I'm Carolyn

I'm a kid-taxi driving, sport cheering, homework helping, mother of 4. I've played and coached several sports. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife and the mother of 4 active children. I grew up in a family of 6. I was a high school and collegiate athlete and was naturally drawn toward a college education involving teaching and coaching. I was married at 21 and widowed at 24 when our only child was 6 months old. It was a tremendously difficult time, but with the help of my Savior, Jesus Christ, and the kind and patient support of family and friends, I was able to heal and again find happiness. Six years later, I married a wonderful man and we have been blessed with 3 more children. I coached multiple sports before becoming a "stay at home" mom. I still enjoy playing basketball with my sister and other women in the area. I love college football and basketball and cheer LOUDLY for my BYU Cougars. My extended family continues the tradition started when I was young of attending all of the BYU football home games, tailgating with food and enjoying family time. I like to read and have enjoyed reading all kinds of books from the Classics, to "Harry Potter", to even my husband's Louis L'amour westerns. Mostly, I love spending time with my family on "Road Trips", at their sporting events, playing games, eating around the dinner table and the like. I really enjoy singing, although those listening may question my ability in that area. :) The gospel of Jesus Christ is a huge part of who I am and has given me hope during the difficult times that I have encountered. I love to work with the children in our area at Church.

Why I am a Mormon

Having experienced the death of a brother at age 20 and having been widowed at a very young age, I have come to know personally of God's love for me and of the Savior's ability to help us bear our burdens, regardless of the depths of those sorrows. He bore our sins, pains, and every manner of sorrow we will ever feel in the Garden of Gethsemane that we might be able to overcome. Who better to help us than the one who knows exactly what we're feeling? Because of that atoning sacrifice He knows how to help us find happiness and peace that is indescribable and can be found nowhere else. Christ has also overcome death that all may live again and provided a way for families to be together forever. I'm grateful for the knowledge I have that He lives and that we can see Him and live with our loved ones again after this life, because of His atonement, if we are obedient and faithful. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the same church that Jesus Christ established while he was on the earth and was later lost during the Apostasy. The Church was restored to the earth again through Joseph Smith along with the priesthood authority and saving ordinances that are necessary to return back to our Heavenly Father. I am so grateful that our Heavenly Father loves us and has a plan for us to return and live with Him and our loved ones again. I am also so grateful that our Savior, Jesus Christ, has made that possible through His atoning sacrifice and resurrection. They love us and know each of us personally and will always be there for us if we just ask. I know that this is true and have witnessed it over and over again throughout my life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending church meetings and serving others. On Sundays I work with the children in our area between the ages of 3-11 years old, I teach and help organize classes where they can be taught about the gospel of Jesus Christ and His love for them. We have lessons and learn religious songs. We put together a program once a year where the children sing and share what they've learned. It is an amazing program each year, because it's the sincere feelings of sweet children. It is a privilege to work with them as they so naturally feel Jesus' love for them. I also visit several women in our area each month to discuss our beliefs and hope to be able to help them and their families, if I'm needed. I volunteer weekly at our local elementary school being a "reading mom", helping 1st graders improve their reading skills. It's fun to see them succeed. My hope is to be a good person and be able to serve my family and those around me the best I can, in anyway I can. I know when I'm serving others that I'm also serving our Heavenly Father and that makes me happy.
