Hi I'm Mackenzie

I'm a twin, a student, a return missionary, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Mackenzie and just returned from serving a full time mission in Queensland, Australia. I love to go out and be active, spending as much time as I can with my family and friends. Being a missionary is something that gives me great joy, I'm a quiet person in general, but I've grown to love going out every day and talking with as many people as I possibly can. Helping them find that happiness and joy that I have found in being a disciple of Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

There was a point in my life when I didn't know what I believed. I knew what my parents believed and what my friends believed, but that was THEM and it wasn't me. I felt so incomplete because I'd been going to church my entire life, but none of it felt like it meant anything. It wasn't personal. I fell into a deep internal depression that just overtook my life. And I wasn't happy. The years carried on and finally I decided that I needed to change, I needed to find what it was that was making me so incomplete and add it into my life. And that was simply my own knowledge that the Restored Church of Christ on this earth is true. I began to read the Book of Mormon, and for the first time ever I knelt down and prayed to Heavenly Father to ask for myself whether this church was true. And the feelings and emotions that overcame me, shot out from nowhere. Love, and joy, and happiness filled my heart until I felt it would burst. After that moment in my life, I became stronger through the help of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, and everything else just fit into place. I know that this is Christ's church, restored on the earth today by the prophet Joseph Smith, who was only a boy when he himself desired to know which church he needed to join. The Book of Mormon is the word of God, as is the Bible and they both are a vital part to me in my life. The love and happiness that I receive knowing that Christ loved me so much, that He died for our sins, so that we would have a chance to repent and live with our Heavenly Father gives me so much joy. I have found the happiness I was looking for, and I'll continue to nourish it and strengthen it by always striving to be a better disciple of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith every second of every day. Being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has given me so many chances to do service, and reach out to others all the time and show them the love that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ has for each and every one of them. I love to go out and volunteer at the local hospital in our area, and have spent quite a bit of time there with families and patients. There are times when I'll go throughout my day, and every single time I am faced with chances to serve. And those chances give me the opportunity to make other people have a better day. For me, I know that a simple smile from someone can change the mood I'm in in an instant. Smiles are absolute lifesavers! I think one of my favorite church callings, was when I was called to be a Primary teacher, teaching 4-5 year old children. They are so much fun and filled with so much energy. I found that the more I taught them, the more in fact they taught me. Now that I've returned from serving as a full time missionary, I am going to school and doing my best every single day to become more like my Savior Jesus Christ. I'm not perfect, but at least I'm trying.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

None of us can truly understand all that Christ went through while he suffered for our sins. The only thing we know for fact, was that he suffered so much, that he bled through every pore. Christ did that for us. As part of the plan Heavenly Father has for all of us, so that we may return to live with him once again in happiness. Christ suffered for our sins, so that we would have a chance to repent, be baptized, receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, and endure to the end. We must have faith to take up this chance. "No unclean thing can dwell in the sight of God." We are not perfect, we are humans and will always make mistakes, but the beauty of the Atonement of Christ is that if we have the faith to repent, and are sincere, we can become clean once again. It is only through Christ's sacrifice that we can do so, since He is perfect. By His Atonement, we can live with Heavenly Father again. Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Joseph Smith was a Prophet, just like Moses and Abraham were Prophets of God. The members of The Church of Jesus Christ does not worship Joseph Smith, because this is not his church. It is Christ's Church, that has been restored to the earth today. We respect Joseph Smith, and proclaim him as a Prophet of God, who as a 14 year old boy, prayed to know which religion he was to join. And by that prayer, came the Restoration of Christ's Church on the earth. We worship God our Eternal Father and His Son Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
