Hi I'm Melia Spear

I grew up in Utah and I have three brothers. My favorite activity is boating. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in a small town called Cedar Hills in Utah. I have three older brothers who are my best friends and a nephew that I adore. I'm a student at Brigham Young University but currently serving a mission in the México, Mérida mission. I love being outside and active. I enjoy activities such as skiing, camping, and playing soccer. My favorite thing to do on the weekends is to go laser tagging or to trampoline places.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I love Jesus Christ. I know that he is my savior and that he atoned for my sins. I know that without the grace and mercy of Christ, I could not make it through this life, let alone return to live with him and our Heavenly Father again. I love this church because it helps me keep my actions and life in harmony with God's teachings. I love this church because it's full of people who are constantly trying to become better people and closer to God.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending my church meetings on Sunday, living the commandments of God, and serving my fellow brothers and sisters. Right now I have left home for 18 months to Mexico to go share my gospel to the people of México so it can bless others lives as well. Serving others helps me gain a great love for the people around me and also helps me start to comprehend the love our Heavenly Father has for all of us.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Melia Spear
The fact that this life is too hard to make it through alone tells me that there is a God. Having a close relationship with God gives my life peace and purpose. I see the blessings that flow from the gospel that prove that there is a God. Seeing how beautiful the Earth is shows me there is a God and he created all of this for us. Show more Show less

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Melia Spear
It is impossible portray the full meaning of the Atonement in words. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, suffered for all of our sins, pains, afflictions, and sorrows in the Garden of Gethsemane; then later was killed on the cross. Because he performed the Atonement, and went through everything, we don't have too. We can rely on his grace and mercy when we go through times of trouble and tribulation. Because of the Atonement, we can repent of our sins and be cleansed through the mercy of Jesus Christ. If Christ hadn't sacrificed his life, we would never be able to repent and be made whole again; and because no one person on this Earth is perfect, we all make mistakes. Without the opportunity to fix mistakes, we would never make it back to our Heavenly Father and live forever in our sins and guilt. Show more Show less
