Hi I'm Austin Randall

I was born and raised in the Midwest. I played tennis throughout high school. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I started playing tennis my freshman year of high school, and I loved it! I continued to play and eventually made it onto the varsity team for my junior and senior years. I took four years of high school Spanish, but, unfortunately, not very much of it stuck. I really enjoyed my math and science classes and I plan to become an aerospace engineer after my mission. I had a job cleaning carpets, and I got to see some pretty nasty carpets, mostly in the college housing sector of the business. I'll tell you what, that job ruined carpets for me. I used to be able to walk in and not even notice the carpets, but now I get so distracted by them! Most of us don't really notice the quality of the carpets, and now I envy that.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because it is the true church of God on the Earth. I grew up a member of the church, and I always took that for granted. But throughout my studying, I have come to know of the truthfulness of this gospel. This is the same church that Christ organized when He was on the earth. After He went back to heaven, the people began to reject the Apostles and distort the gospel. After the Apostles were killed, the authority to act in Christ's name was taken from the earth. With nobody to keep the gospel pure, the ideas and philosophies of man began to warp and change the truth. Throughout the years, inspired people found bits and fragments of the truth, thus resulting in the many different churches and denominations we have today. Then, in the early 1800s, Joseph Smith prayed to know which church was the true church that he should join. He received a vision of two personages, God the Father and His son Jesus Christ. He was told not to join any of the churches, for while they have some truth and goodness, it is not the fullness of the gospel. In the following years, the church was restored as it was at the time of Jesus. The priesthood, the authority to act in Christ's name, was restored, enabling us to receive every gift and blessing that our loving Heavenly Father wants for us. That is why I am a member of this church. I know that this church is true and that the Book of Mormon is an accurate record of ancient people on the American continents. Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God, and Thomas S. Monson is a true prophet on the earth today. God is all powerful and He loves each and every one of us.

How I live my faith

I was called to be an assistant librarian in my ward building. It is a pretty nice responsibility to have. I get to make copies for the teachers, hunt down different pictures or resources, and hand out copies of the scriptures or manuals to those who need them. I am just about to leave on my mission to Chile, so that is very exciting. I grew up wanting to go on a mission, and now it is finally happening! Hooray!
