Hi I'm Melinda

I'm a wife, a mom of 5 kids, and a doctoral student. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I'm a mother, a wife, and a student. I love all kinds of paper and yarn crafts, gardening, reading, home decorating, baking, and decorating cakes and cake pops. I love the water (beach, lake, pool, you name it!) and various water sports. A few years ago, I graduated with my Master's degree from BYU, during which time I had children numbers 3 and 4. I recently started a doctoral program.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up a member of this church, but that's not why I'm still a Mormon. I first gained a testimony of the gospel when I was 12 years old. I received confirmation that the Book of Mormon was true and that Joseph Smith was a prophet after reading the Book of Mormon on my own every night. I had the desire to know and my Father in Heaven blessed me to receive an answer to my prayer at a very young age. I know He hears and answers our prayers. I have personally felt the love of my Savior and my Heavenly Father during prayer, when I'm reading scriptures, when I'm listening to the prophets, and when I attend my church meetings. These experiences have truly converted me and have been the driving force behind why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Despite the "busy"ness of my life, I live my faith by accepting and fulfilling my callings to the best of my ability. I find that the Lord always blesses me to handle my responsibilities in life when I devote myself to His church and His children. My husband and I recently accepted a calling to teach the children in my area. My husband and I are also trying to schedule more trips to visit the temple so we can enjoy the blessings and peace that come from that attendance. The temple is more than 4 hours away, but we feel that time is well spent - it rejuvenates our marriage.
