Hi I'm Andrew Lamprecht

I love being outside and being active. I study the brain. I love music. And I am a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Orange County, California. Growing up, I used to think that it was too sunny in Orange County and that I would absolutely be moving to a place where it rained/snowed/etc. I don't know what weird sickness that was that twisted my mind so much but I am glad to say it is in remission because now that I live in Provo, UT (Siberia) I miss that little slice of heaven. I have always loved being physically active. My body stops functioning if I am not running, playing sports, going on adventures, dancing, being outside, etc. I have been blessed with some of the best and funniest friends that exist on this planet. I love having friends with whom one night we can be talking about God and our hopes and dreams and fears and the next night we are doing total hood-rat things and being punk teenagers. I am studying Neuroscience at Brigham Young University and am weighing out the options of what to pursue with that degree (anyone my age knows this is just code for "I'm still kind of clueless") Music makes my heart beat. It brings ideas and emotions to my mind that just don't exist in my brain without it. I love my family and I love life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a believer in God because I have felt His love deep within my soul, have felt Him close to me, have received answers from Him to prayers, and have seen miracles done in front of my eyes by His hands. I am a Christian because I have received special spiritual and intellectual confirmations that Jesus Christ is my Savior. I know that only through obedience to His teachings and His sacrifice can I feel clean, change myself, become better, and eventually return to live with my Heavenly Father. I am a Mormon because the doctrines taught in this Church are what have most helped me to understand how to get to know my Heavenly Father and Savior the best and form a relationship with them. I have come to know for myself that just like in biblical times, Heavenly Father speaks to men on earth today called Prophets and gives them counsel on what we can do as His sons and daughters to avoid heartache and stay close to Him. I believe that the challenges and temptations today are different than those of olden times and therefore, it is important that He speak to Prophets today just like in olden times. I know that after a long time of darkness, Prophets were again called and spoken to, starting with Joseph Smith. I know that the Book of Mormon, a book similar to the Bible, is the word of God and divine guidance to help us to return to Him. Most importantly, the Book of Mormon is a testament of Jesus Christ. I know that through a sequence of divine sufferings, Christ paid the price for sin and can cleanse us of if we come unto Him. My heart swells over with gratitude for the blessings that Jesus Christ has given me. I will forever be in debt to Him and will always strive to do my best to help others to follow His example as well.

How I live my faith

God loves me and I am a treasured son of Him. Because I know that I am a son of God, I know He will only invite me to do things that will make me happy. Because of that faith, I choose to keep His commandments, which I have come to understand as guidance from a loving parent. I choose to keep myself sexually pure. I choose to avoid taking in certain things into my body like alcohol and drugs. I choose to be honest with the people around me. I choose to pay a tithing to build up the Lord's Kingdom here on earth. I choose to devote a day of the week in which I strive to put myself in a situation to better feel closer to Him. All of these choices bring logical positive benefits, which I call blessings, from following the wise counsels of God. Because I know that I am a child of God, I know that every man and woman that has ever lived and will ever live on this earth is also a loved son or daughter of God. As part of God's family together, I strive to show love to spiritual brothers and sisters through treating them with respect, taking interests in their joys and worries and fears, and striving to serve and uplift as many people as I can. I have faith that doing these things will have a positive impact on their lives and will bring me closer to my Heavenly Father as well. Because I know God lives and loves me, I seek His guidance everyday through prayer and scripture study. I talk to Him as I pray and ask Him questions and I receive answers in the form of inspired thoughts and feelings that come from Him.
