Hi I'm Brent Barrus

I grew up in Idaho, and I served a mission in Ohio. I'm a husband, father and grandfather. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married to my sweetheart for almost 43 years and am the father of three daughters and three sons. We also have 16 grandsons and 3 granddaughters. I enjoy farming, especially working with cattle, and I love playing and watching sports, particularly basketball and football. I delight in having a fish pond where I can catch trout with my grandchildren when they come to visit and a pasture where I can take them four-wheeling. I love to spend time playing with my grandchildren--they bring me great joy. I benefit from reading the scriptures and other doctrinal books, and I also like to read historical books such as "Team of Rivals" by Goodwin.

Why I am a Mormon

I know the restored gospel of Jesus Christ is true. I have had many personal experiences that have taught me this truth by the power of the Holy Ghost. I love the Lord Jesus Christ and desire to always follow Him. I know I have a Father in Heaven who loves me and wants me to pray to Him daily. I believe that we have a prophet on the earth who speaks the mind and will of the Lord and directs us in these latter-days. I know that the Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ, and I have learned to believe firmly in Christ's Atonement through the study of this great book.

How I live my faith

I love serving as an ordinance worker in the Rexburg Idaho Temple every week. I also serve at BYU-Idaho in a ward or congregation as the ward clerk on Sundays which I enjoy. I visit a couple of families in my home ward each month with a fine companion to give these families a spiritual message and make sure they are taken care of. I try to treat every person I meet with love, respect, and kindness.
