Hi I'm Emily Santiago

I'm a Texan, I'm a Ute, and I'm on my way to Spain to serve a mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Utah, but moved to Texas when I was just two years old. I'm the baby of four, and they are my best friends. As the youngest in a house of six, I learned early on that people enjoy being in the company of those that make them happy, and I am the happiest when I have the opportunity to put a smile on another persons face. Being raised in Texas I come from a family that loves their football, along with many other sports. I played volleyball growing up for nearly 10 years, and decided to give it up to focus my college years on receiving a good education. When I graduated high school, I moved back to Utah to attend college at the University of Utah. I have loved my college experience, but have recently decided to put my life on hold, as well as leave my family, for 18 months to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon, because through this restored gospel I know God lives. I know that he loves each and every one of his children personally and individually, and he hears and answers our prayers. He provided us with a savior, so that we would be able to repent of our sins and become clean, in order to return to live with him in heaven again someday. There are an endless number of second chances, and countless opportunities to have clean slates. There is a hope, a peace, and a love here stronger than you can find any other place. I am a Mormon, because I know that through this gospel my family will be together for forever, and that this life is only just a blink in the eternal perspective.

How I live my faith

I try my best to be as involved in my church activities, and as close knit to my ward as I can. My most recent calling was to coordinate events and activities for the women in my ward. These events allowed us to not only grow closer together as sisters, but to build our testimonies in the gospel and develop new talents. I currently hold the calling to serve as a missionary in the Spain Madrid Mission for a period of 18 months.
