Hi I'm Steve Snowden

I am a convert to the Church. My wife of 50 years introduced me to the Church when we were in high school.

About Me

I first went to church when my girlfriend, now my wife, asked me to attend mutual. I joined the church in California prior to our being sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in 1963. I served over 28 years in the Marine Corps before retiring to southern Ohio. We have 8 children, 28 grandchildren and 1 greatgrandchild.

Why I am a Mormon

I decided to be baptized because all the missionaries taught me just made sense. I knew that there had to be one religious doctrine that was true and I wanted to find out which faith waws based upon the original church that the Savior set up while he was in mortality. I know that prophets have been on the earth for a ong time and it is important for me to know that there is a living prophet today who helps guide us through the tough times of these latter days. I love the principles our church teaches regarding the importance of the family and that we have the potential to be with our families in the next life, if we remain faithful. Basically, I see our church standards as a good way to live my life and to bring happiness to others.

How I live my faith

Since retiring we both stay very active in church callings and community service. We returned from serving a senior full time mission in the Oklahoma City Oklahoma Mission in 2011. I am currently serving as the Ward Mission Leader. In addition, we serve as Ordinance Workers in the Columbus Ohio Temple and are Program Coordinators for the church's Addiction Recovery Program for Ohio/West Virginia. We also drive one day a week helping senions get to doctor appointments sponsored by the American Red Cross. My faith in grounded in Jesus Christ and the sacrifice he made for me. I feel that if I try and serve others as Jesus did then I can make the world a little better place to be.
