Hi I'm Rachel

I grew up and live in Kentucky. I'm an attorney, wife and mother. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a stay-at-home mom. But I went to law school and practiced law until my children were born. I'm grateful I can stay home with my children while they are little. I love rock music, cooking and reading. I also like nature photography and learning new things.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have a firm belief that the teachings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are the complete and full gospel of Jesus Christ. I believe that life's toughest questions are answered in the doctrine taught in my Church. I know that obedience to God's laws and following Christ's teachings are the way to true happiness in life. I know that through the atonement of Jesus Christ, we can change and be forgiven of the things we've done wrong. I feel the love of God as I follow the teachings of the gospel. I'm so grateful for the teachings of modern prophets. I believe that Thomas S. Monson is a prophet of God and that he does indeed teach us the things that our Heavenly Father would have us learn today. I also believe in the power of prayer and that Heavenly Father answers personal prayers. I know the Book of Mormon contains the word of God and I'm so grateful for the inspiration and direction that I find when reading it.

How I live my faith

I love my Church. I love it for the teachings that make life better when they are followed. My membership in the Church has allowed me to serve others and to experience the peace that comes from that service. It has taught me to seek out those who are lonely, sick or in need and to show them love. I represent my Church on a local interfaith council. It's wonderful to get to know people of other faiths and work with them on community service projects. I also sometimes teach a marriage and family relationship class at my church. Family is so important in our faith and I'm happy I can help others strengthen their family relationships by teaching this class.

Does The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints endorse political parties?

Rachel
No. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints does not endorse political parties. However, the Church does encourage its members to stay well informed on issues and to participate fully in the political process. Members are encouraged to vote and be engaged in their governments. The Church encourages it's members to seek an understanding of issues and then use their best judgement and select candidates who share their values. Show more Show less
