Hi I'm Eileen Bocanegra

I love people. I'm a convert. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the oldest of four daughters. My family loves to laugh, sometimes we laugh so hard at the smallest things, but with how loud it was you'd think you were at a comedy club. I spend time with my dog, even if it's just for a few minutes playing fetch. I coach and play lacrosse when the opportunity arises. I sing in choirs any chance I get. I love music. I will sit and listen to music that came out just recently or anything that could be decades old. I like to read in my spare time. I will read a series to the end, and stay up til 2am just to finish a book. I love to meet people, make friends, build relationships. I'm a college student and I love to get involved. I'm that girl that gets involved in clubs, student government, extra-curriculars, service, etc. I won't know everyone, but I'll try to know everyone in the office I work at. I'll work my way in one building, and try to get to know as many people as I can. I just like being around people, and doing things with people. Whether that's watching a movie, being active outside, or cooking from some new recipe we found off of Pinterest you can expect me to be doing it with friends and family.

Why I am a Mormon

I lived in Utah for 7 years before I chose to be baptized. Being in high school, and a minority in a small city, was never easy. I didn't want to give into peer pressure. So I went away to college to escape the mormons, to be my own person… Until I realized I was missing something. The light my friends always had, and the feeling church activities and services always left me with were something I couldn't find anywhere else. It all came down to me. Only I could find the truth for myself. It was my choice. I didn't believe there was a Heavenly Father that loved us. I didn't believe in the companionship of the Holy Ghost. I didn't believe in life after death... Until a friend showed me the plan of salvation. In that moment I wanted to doubt, but something was telling me this was the truth. If you look for something to doubt you'll find something, but nothing as great as the confirmation the spirit will send to you once you find the truth of the gospel. I can testify that I know that God lives and that he DOES LOVE us so very much. He is aware of you and knows you by name. He finds ways to communicate to us in ways that are personal to us. He loves every single person on this earth. He wants you to be happy. He wants you to come back to Him some day. If you sincerely pray with a righteous desire to know, God will let you know that these things are true. It doesn't matter what other people say because in the end you're going to be the one who decides for yourself. So give yourself the chance to find out. Get over your pride and fear. I did, and it has brought me nothing but blessings, love, and a happiness I cannot find anywhere else.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being an active member of the church. That could mean anything to anyone, but for me it means I go to church, I read my scriptures, I pray every single day, I love the people in my life, and I attend the temple as frequently as I can. This isn't all. I'm determined to lift people's spirits. Christ loved all, I believe we should do the same. I don't know every single person on the planet, but if I can spread some of that Christ like love to the people I meet then I think life can be amazing.
