Hi I'm Dusty

I live in Utah. I speak French. I am student. I love my wife. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a student at Utah State University and I am going to marry the love of my life this summer! Speaking of summer, I love to go cliff jumping and rock climbing in the summertime.I love to play sports and run as well. Crazy, I know, but running is one of my hobbies! Last spring I trained for and ran a half-marathon. I also love being involved! It has always been a very important part of my life. For example, I have been involved with Relay For Life for three years now. I am very passionate about cancer education! I am an Ambassador for the university where I have the amazing opportunity to recruit and visit with high school students. I am also a brother of the Utah-Alpha Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and love serving the university and community. I would say my biggest accomplishment in life was serving a two-year LDS mission in Southern France. I love the people of France and miss serving them very much. Service and leadership have been huge parts of my life and I think it is what defines me most.

Why I am a Mormon

As an adolescent, my mother was diagnosed with Non-Hodkin's Lymphoma cancer. I still remember the day that my father told me what she had been told by the doctors...It was life-shattering. She was diagnosed at a late stage where the cancer had spread throughout her entire body. Yet, my mother's faith never wavered. I remember my mother even saying that if it was her time, she didn't fear death. Her knowledge of Heavenly Father's plan for us brought her great strength and comfort. This entire experience impacted my life greatly and caused myself to seriously ponder upon the plan of salvation; the plan of happiness for us all. My mother has had many ups and downs, but she is now entering her eighth year as a cancer survivor and i'm so proud of her! Our family has been extremely blessed, but regardless I can testify death is not the end. The plan of happiness is real and we can have so much joy in this life as well as the life to come. We can return to live with our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and live happily with those we love forever. I can't imagine eternity without those I love, can you? That is why I do what I do. That is why I continue to have faith in Jesus Christ. That's why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith in two ways; by what I DO, and who I AM. My dad always taught me to do hard things, and my mother taught me to not give up. These have been two valuable lessons that have shaped what I do and who I am. I owe almost everything to our Heavenly Father for giving me such a wonderful family to cultivate my love for the Gospel. My calling in the church is AMAZING! I am the Sunday School Presidency as second counselor. In this calling, I assist the president in planning and facilitating an learning environment that will better help the young single adults in our ward to succeed in teaching the Gospel as well as strengthen their testimonies in Christ. It is such a wonderful opportunity to watch people grow in their faith in the Lord and it strengthens my own to serve in this calling.
