Hi I'm Steven Moore

I love God, my wife, children and grandchildren. Mormonism has brought meaning, direction and purpose to my life.

About Me

I love being a husband, father and grandfather. Watching my children be parents has brought me the greatest joy. Our family is close, we get together a lot. Photography is a favorite hobby. My camera is a window to the world, it helps me stop and see the beauty in people and places. We go camping as a family, sing around the camp fire and enjoy cobbler from the Dutch oven. Music is a key part of my life. I don't claim any musical talent, but my wife helped guide our family to musical excellence. They all sing, play the piano, guitars and now, ukuleles. Music brings joy to our family, it binds us together, strengthens and heals my soul. We raise a garden. Fresh vegetables from the garden are always a treat. A garden connects me to the earth. Planting seeds, tilling the ground, pulling weeds is all very good for me; it helps me connect with our creator. We live in a great country. I think it is important to speak out on issues and get involved our government at all levels. My career is in the landscape industry. For the last 25 years I have worked to improve water use efficiency by using technology. Starting a business takes passion, hard work and a good support group. I have learned the value of perseverance. I have always tried to be a good friend and neighbor. We get together often get together with friends and have a good time; it is healthily to laugh. One of my goals in life is to put a smile on the face of everyone I meet. I love life.

Why I am a Mormon

I have learned and believe that God, the creator of Heaven and Earth is the Father of the spirits of all mankind, including you and me. He loves us. This earth was created to provide His children experiences we could not have living in His presence. Satan, the devil, is an enemy of God. He rebelled against God and is determined to persuade us to hate God as he does. This conflict has been going on even before Adam and Eve were placed on earth and has created confusion, hate, bloodshed and sorrow. To provide the way for us to return home to our Heavenly parents, God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to redeem us from our fallen state. Jesus teaches truth that brings peace and purpose to life. He taught us to love one another. His teaching come by word, example and revelation. The truth of His message is confirmed by the witness of the Holy Spirit who bears witness of truth. I have learned that as we focus our attention on Christ’s message and listen to the still small voice, we can filter out the noise and confusion Satan uses to keep us from knowing and living the will of God. I know God loves me, you and all His children. I know He hears and answers prayer. I know He wants us to learn, grow and find peace and happiness in this life. I know an eternity of joy awaits those who love, trust and follow God.

How I live my faith

Joseph Smith taught that faith is a principle of action. My faith has opened many doors to me and lead to to do things that have enriched my life. I read scriptures many times each week. I ponder the lessons. In the pondering I often have thoughts and feelings that give me greater understanding. The scriptures not only teach principles but show examples of how to apply the lessons to life. I love to read the scriptures. Weekly sabbath worship is very important to me. My son put it best, "going to Church is like exercising, no one workout gets you in shape, we get in shape through consistent effort". This is so true. I have also found that when I go to church to get answers to spiritual questions, I am often filled with understanding. But when I just go out of duty, it is not as fulfilling. I pray often. Prayer is hard. Answers do not come as quickly, as I would like. But I have found peace, comfort, strength and love in prayer. I believe in prayer. My know God loves me, hears my prayers and wants me to learn and grow. Temple worship has become very significant to me in the past 9 years. I go as often as I can. My goal is weekly attendance. The temple has helped refine and polish my faith and understanding. I have had many opportunities to serve in the church. Serving as Bishop was the richest experience. That opportunity showed me how much God loves His children and that Christ directs the work of His church. I now serve on a High Council of a Young Single Adult stake. I have been a Scout Master, Ward Mission Leader, Sunday School Teacher and other callings. I love to teach and share what I have learned. In every calling I have felt the guidance of the Holy Ghost helping me. Those prompting a are real and rich. I believe God expects us to continue to grow and learn. But we are also on earth to serve others. Helping others brings me joy. I love My Father in Heaven and He loves me.
