Hi I'm Paula

I grew up in Plano, Texas. I am a federal contracts and subcontracts negotiator. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am and always will be a mother to my two grown children, a daughter, and a sister and Noni (grandmother) to five grandchildren. Family is the most important part of my life. Sunday is family day. Everyone from siblings, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren gather at mom's house for food, family, card or domino's, and to talk. We share with each other what has happened in our lives. We see each other during the week, but there is something about Sunday and family that brings the family closer.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a convert to the church. I grew up in the Catholic Church. When I turned 18, I knew something was missing in my life and began my own spiritual journey. Over the next 38 years I walked many paths from Buddhism to my own Native American teachings. After moving to San Antonio, I prayed continuosly to Heavenly Father to lead me to my permanent spiritual home. One summer evening several months later, I was watching television. When the show broke for commercial, it was a mormon.org commerical. I was stunned. I had never seen an advertisement for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The show came back on and I put the commerical out of my mind. At the next break, every commercial was morman.org. I said out loud, "Okay, I get the message. I will checkout mormon.org in the morning." Saturday morning, I came downstairs, made breakfast, and turned on the television to watch the news and weather. A mormon.org commercial was on. I immediately went upstairs and typed in "mormon.org." The next morning, I walked into the Chapel and told the door greeter, "I have never been here before, but would like to visit and would like a copy of the Book of Mormon." That morning, I new I was home. Heavenly Father had answered my prayer's for a spiritual home. There is more to my story. Ask me. I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Helping out in the community as a USO Volunteer and in my Ward are important to me. As a USO Volunteer, I am able to make a small difference in the life of a seasoned soldier or a new recruit. This may be from providing a holiday meal to taking donations. I am also serve in my Ward as a Visiting Teacher to other women in the church. As a Visiting Teachers, we visit the women we are assigned to share a gospel message and offer assistance when needed, day or night.

What is the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is another testament that Jesus Christ really lived, that He was and is God’s Son. It contains the writings of ancient prophets. When I read the Book of Mormon it was to obtain the promise that those who read it and sincerely pray about it can know by the Holy Ghost that it is true (Moroni 10:4). Show more Show less
