Hi I'm Elias

I'm a son, band geek, friend, and I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

About Me

I have not always been a faithful member. I was baptized at the age of 8, but fell away from the Church very quickly. Thanks to the love of my friends and family, about 10 years later I came to truly know the goodness of the Lord. During High School, I was very active in the Music program and tried to help with what I could. I plan on attending the University of Utah to study engineering.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I love my Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, one can truly feel the power of God manifest here on the earth. I'm very grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the Lord's Kingdom. A great part of the Gospel, also, is the focus on the family. When one looks at their life through the Plan of Salvation, one can relate the eternal purposes of each one of us to the hand of God.

How I live my faith

The ways I live my faith might seem a bit unconventional. I've always been different, whether I've tried to or not, so why not just embrace it, right? I love service. Also, I love the words of the Prophets, old and modern. I live daily on the faith that God does care about us and wants to lift us up. The best things in life are the tender little moments when we can just sit down and realize how much He loves us.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Elias
We, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, worship God The Father, His Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost. No other being. We believe that God reaches out to His children by the mouth of Prophets, such as Moses, Abraham, Noah or Isaiah. God, being the loving Heavenly Father that He is, called Prophets again to the earth to assist us in our journey. The first of these Modern Prophets was Joseph Smith, Jr. Through the work that Joseph did for us, we have the restored Gospel of our Lord. We thank him for the things he accomplished and the aid he gave, but we do not worship him. Show more Show less

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Elias
A General Authority once said, "The Atonement of Jesus Christ is the most fundamental point of doctrine that we have. Also, it is the least understood." I agree with this whole heartedly. Through the grace and love of God, we may be saved by the sacrifice, or Atonement, of His son, Jesus Christ. When we can truly accept that He suffered and died for us individually and are willing to do our part, we can become purified of sin through this selfless act. We don't understand why, but the Atonement encompasses every sickness, pain, sin, wrongdoing or heartache that we have ever, or will ever, experience. The Lord suffered everything, so that we would not have to suffer ourselves. Show more Show less
