Hi I'm Mackenzie Tolk

I live in Utah. I love music and have recorded a CD of uplifting music that I have written and arranged. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Mackenzie Leigh Tolk and I have a deep and enthusiastic love for life! I LOVE music and I find it to be the best way to express myself. It's important to me because it gives me opportunities to uplift others and make people happy. I'm currently a college student where I have had opportunities to perform in choirs and in musical productions, and I've also released a CD of my music. Performing is the thing that I love most in the whole world because of the joy that music can bring to people. I believe that music is one of the most sacred gifts that humankind has ever been given.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because this church is what brings me the most happiness. I love knowing that I have a Heavenly Father who loves me. I love knowing that I can feel His love and His spirit whenever I need it. I love and cherish all of the spiritual and enriching experiences I've had with reading the Book of Mormon and going to church. I truly have come to know that it's the true church, and that it teaches true and essential principles. Being a part of this church is the happiest, most enriching, and most uplifting aspect of my life and I'm thankful for it every single day.

How I live my faith

In my ward, I am in charge of organizing the music for all of our different meetings and activities. It's a great way for me to use my talents to serve others. I also have the opportunity to visit with and teach a few of the girls that live in my ward. I love being able to serve, help, and uplift others not only in my ward, but also in my school environment and community.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Mackenzie Tolk
Our church does not require us to serve missions. However, the Savior has implored us to teach the gospel to people, and for this reason Mormons are strongly encouraged to serve missions. I have chosen to serve a mission, and will be leaving this June to preach the gospel to people. I'm not doing this because I've been forced or pressured into doing so, nor because it is any sort of a requirement. I've chosen to do this because I want to and because I know that my Heavenly Father wants me to. Show more Show less

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

Mackenzie Tolk
I have received so many blessings in my life from studying the scriptures. I remember one time in particular when I was just having a terrible day because I felt so overwhelmed by the number of tasks I needed to complete for school. I felt like I needed to read my scriptures, knowing that it would help me feel better. I kept telling myself I didn't have time, but soon recognized this recurring thought to read my scriptures as a prompting from the Holy Ghost. I took some time to pray and read my scriptures and was guided to a scripture about peace and happiness. Suddenly, life didn't seem so difficult anymore. Through my scripture reading, I had gained the strength I needed to get through my day with an increased amount of happiness and optimism. I know that as we read our scriptures, we can find answers to questions and peace in times of trouble. Show more Show less
