Hi I'm Alisha

I'm a full-time student, employee, and mom. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married and have 2 beautiful daughters. I work full-time for a home health agency. I go to school full-time for Surgical Technololgy. I grew up in the church but dealt with my own apostasy.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe that my Savior came to this Earth to save us from our sins as long as we do our part and do what has been asked of us. I had left the church for a while after some choices that I had made and had never felt so alone in my life. Once I was able to forgive myself and remember my individual worth I came back and proved to my Heavenly Father that I wanted to be a member of Christ's church. I have worked hard but have never been so happy as I am now. Now, I truly have joy and am at peace, something that I never experienced during my own apostasy. I have a testimony of the atonement. I know that through the Savior we can all be forgiven of our sins and work to get back to our Heavenly Father's presence. I have a testimony of the Restoration. I know that Joseph Smith saw Heavenly Father and Jesus and that he was a prophet in this dispensation. I know that the church is led by a prophet today and that he receives divine instruction to help us in the latter-days. Everything that happens in our lives leads us to bigger things but sometimes we have to find the good and sometimes go through the bad to know what joy is.

How I live my faith

I go to church as often as I can. I strive to teach my daughters the gospel and to set a Christ-like example for them. I strive to practice what I preach and show my coworkers, classmates, and anyone else I meet that I am honest, dependable, and hardworking.

How are modesty and chastity related? How can parents teach their children to be modest in dress, language and behavior?

Alisha
Our bodies are sacred temples of the Lord. We were created in the image of our Heavenly Father and it is important for us to respect ourselves as we respect him. Physical intimacy is sacred and is used for procreation. Heavenly Father gave us this sacred gift to bring more of our spirit brothers and sisters into the world. When we are modest we keep our most sacred parts covered to not entice others and ourselves to use our bodies in a way that the Lord does not want us to. I teach my daughters that modesty is important, even though they are small, because we are all precious to our Heavenly Father. I dress modestly to show the example to my children and others that I come in contact with. When we do as our Heavenly Father has asked we do not live with regret and can be much happier.
