Hi I'm Cameron Watkins

People and friends mean the most to me. I believe understanding is everything. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up as a socially awkward child but was able to recognize the need for change and in my second half of high school I had the opportunity of sending my life down a different path. I've always been an academic, I performed well since a young age but it has only been in recent years that I have come to understand the value of and truly appreciate education. Knowledge is power and honestly shapes our lives. I have had a small amount of college experience and I have spent the past few months preparing to serve a full-time mission. I have received a call to the Philippines and I am excited to serve the people there and the Lord for 2 years!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born under the covenant and raised as Latter Day Saint in a dominantly Mormon community. As a child, my testimony was built off of my parents and their decision to be members of The Church. Over time and through my growing years, I came to see how much confusion and darkness was in the world. I believe that in the times that we live in and with the state of the world and society around us, we are lost. I feel that everyone needs help and guidance in this life considering all of the trials and struggles we encounter just in day to day living. Each of us are going to be wandering about without purpose or direction unless we have an understanding; a light to show us the way and to comfort us in times of peril. For me, that light is the Gospel. I know that I have a Father in Heaven who loves and cares about me and wants the best for me. He gave his son for us who came and despite the love they had for us, He was persecuted and rejected by men. Their sacrifice and efforts are the reason for everything we have; for all of our earthly possessions, our abilities and opportunities, our families, even our right and freedoms, especially our agency! I would be ungrateful if I didn't openly and publicly thank my Father and my Savior for how much they have blessed me! It is my hope that everyone may be able to have their eyes opened and to understand and know what I have come to know. I pray that each soul may see the light and be able to feel of Christ's love.

How I live my faith

When I changed my philosophy in high school, people became a major part in my life. I learned how important it is to talk to other people and to not keep everything to yourself. That includes your time, your talents, your belongings, and especially your love and testimony! Much as I had several people change my life for the better, I since have dedicated myself to uplifting and helping others around me in this difficult and confusing world we live in. I know that without my friends and family and all of the positive influences in my life, I would be nowhere near the man I am today. It is with this knowledge that I know every soul on the earth needs comfort and love, compassion and understanding. None of us would be able to stand the trials and challenges of life without our Savior and without each other. I believe that each and every human on this earth is one of God's children and he loves each of us. We all deserve happiness and our worth is so much greater than the world would have us think. I hope that through the little things, the smallest actions of our days, that I and everyone else might be able to spread and share joy. The we can give smiles and give of our kindness. Anyone, no matter who and no matter when, can benefit from kind words and uplifting actions. We are all fighting a hard battle, life is full of so much stress and strife. When we go out of our way to thank or to help or compliment one another, not only will they be strengthened and gain joy, but we will be blessed and shown how we can actually make a difference in the world. There are some things that matter more than others in life. And what matters most isn't even things, it's people; our brothers and sisters. The worth of souls is great in the sight of the Lord and should be to you and me!
