Hi I'm Rachel

I am preparing to leave on a mission in Arcadia California. I love movies, reading, animals, music, and games. I am a Mormon.

About Me

Hi :) my name is Rachel. I am the third kid in my family and love my siblings and parents very much! They mean the world to me and I am so grateful for them! I am 19 years old and have been called to serve as a missionary in Arcadia California! I am very excited to serve the people and can't wait to get started! I recently have graduated from Snow College with an Associates of Biology. I hope to one day have a career in the medical field. At this point I have a few ideas on what I would like to do but I'm not exactly sure. I love serving people and helping others to achieve their goals. For this reason I'm considering becoming an occupational therapist another option for my career would be a veterinarian. I absolutely LOVE animals! I'm from Bountiful, Utah and have grown up there my entire life. My family is probably the biggest part of my life! And I am so grateful for them, they mean the world to me and I know that I wouldn't be who I am without them! I am lucky because l know thst I can be with them for time and all eternity! This is probably my favorite part about the gospel of Jesus Christ, I will be with my family today and my future family for time and all eternity. That is my favorite part of the gospel! I love animals, music, Legos, Disney, movies, laughing, games, reading, learning, being with loved ones, eating, working (yes working as in manual labor that causes one to sweat), I love tending kids, I love the gospel, and more! I am truly a child at heart!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I love the gospel! I won't pretend to understand all of it but I do know that everything I do understand rings with truth! I'm a Mormon because I don't want to be without my family. When we die many believe that it is the absolute end but in the Church of Latter Day Saints we know that it isn't the end! Rather it is just the beginning of a better life! For me knowing that I will be with my current family and my future family forever, as long as we all remain faithful and true to the covenants we have made with God, is a HUGE comfort! Being in college it seems like the one thing that everyone wants to do is to get married, without the knowledge that we could be together for all eternity I doubt that I would want to get married at all. I never want to wonder whether or not I will be with someone who loves me. I know that right now and in the future I will always be loved and someone will be there to wrap their loving arms around me and hold me. Right now when I need or want to feel that I am loved I turn to my family or to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Physically my family can wrap their arms around me. I have not physically been held by either Heavenly Father or Jesus Christ in this life but during hard times when I feel I can't go on I have felt their comfort and have felt like have been hugged by them. I know life is hard but being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has made so many things in my life easier. I love this gospel, I know the things that it says are true! I know this with all my heart, might, mind, and soul. I know it! I live it! Some days not as well as others but I still do by absolute best everyday! and I love it!

How I live my faith

Currently I am preparing to serve a mission in Arcadia California. I am living my faith by doing the absolute best I can in everyday! Each day results in a different absolute best but it is still the best for that day. Yes, I make mistakes but I try to avoid making the same mistake multiple times and know that I can be forgiven for the mistakes that I do make. As I have said before I love to serve! I love to work hard and see things get done. I try to do as much service as I can because I know that is what Jesus Christ would do. I may be young but I have seen countless times what a simple act of service can do. I think that being a friend, a true friend to all is what Christ would have us do. So I live my faith by trying to serve and be a friend to those around me. I live my faith by being me because that is who Heavenly Father has intended me to be.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

If a Mormon missionary goes out for the right reason they go in order to share something that they love and believe in so much they know it to be true and can't help but want to share it! That is why I'm choosing to serve a mission. I know this Gospel is true and I can't deny it. I have to share it. Other than sharing the gospel missionaries have extraordinary opportunities to get to know and serve people of all types! That is remarkable and a once in a lifetime opportunity. I can't imagine my life without the gospel it has changed my life and that is why I've decided to serve a mission. Show more Show less
