Hi I'm Ashley Wawro

I'm a PR student, a designer, a marketer, a photographer, a food-enthusiast, and a missionary. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I am currently a full-time missionary in Taichung, Taiwan. When I'm not on a mission, I'm a full-time student, studying communications and business in the United States. I grew up performing: singing, acting and dancing. When I first came to college I was on a music scholarship, but I decided I just didn't feel right about that course of study. As hard as it was, I switched to a business minded degree and fell in love with a new field in a completely different way. Before my senior year of college, I just left like something was missing from my life. I felt stuck, like I wasn't progressing or doing everything I could. After a lot of thought and prayer, I felt prompted to serve a full-time mission. Serving a mission allows me to completely focus on others and sharing the gospel. My education will be put on hold for 18 months as I serve the people of Taiwan and learn Mandarin Chinese. Because the gospel of Jesus Christ has meant so much to me in my young life, I am eager to share my beliefs with others, because I believe it will bring them joy.

Why I am a Mormon

The gospel provides a grounding for my life, and personal peace.

How I live my faith

Sometimes we have doubts, but we don't stop living because we do. We don't stop doing the things we are sure of because we have a doubt. There are times in my life when I've doubted my decision, my next step, or my purpose. As I've prayed to know the truth, or what step to take, I have received answers. Sometimes the answers don't come right away, but they do come. I know God lives and answers our prayers today. I know the heavens are not closed and that he loves us, his children. Because of this faith, I have decided to serve a full-time mission to share the good news of the gospel.

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

Ashley Wawro
Women have other responsibilities and roles in the church. Now, women are not excluded from anything. The purpose of the priesthood is to give blessings and perform ordinances (like baptism). Men cannot perform these duties form themselves, meaning, they cannot bless themselves or baptize themselves. They can only bless other men, women, and children. I think women often ask and receive more priesthood blessings than men often do, and they absolutely receive all the blessings the priesthood has to offer. Quite simply, we have great end of the deal. Women lead in the church in nearly every way imaginable. Women in the LDS church are part of the largest women's organization in the entire world. They hold head offices in church head quarters as well as individual congregations. Women serve just as much as men, both in statute and hours. Show more Show less

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Ashley Wawro
We (I'm currently a missionary) proselyte because this gospel has brought us so much joy that we want to share it with other people. For me personally, the gospel has brought me personal peace and lasting happiness. That is a priceless gift that is meant to be shared. God loves all his children and wants all his children to have this joy, so sharing my testimony is the least I can do. Show more Show less
