Hi I'm Wendy

I'm from Southern California. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I like to walk, bike ride, and go to the beach with my husband. Spending time with my grandchildren is the best! My hobbies include machine embroidery and doing family history research. I love learning about who my ancestors were and their stories. The sacrifices they made for our country inspire me.

Why I am a Mormon

The first time I visited Temple Square in Salt Lake City I felt the Spirit of God for the first time. It was like coming home to a wonderful warm familiar place in my heart. I wanted to know more. When we arrived home, my parents called the church and asked for someone to come explain their beliefs to us. Two faithful young missionaries came to our home and taught us. I knew what they were saying was true. My spirit was ready for what was to become the most important and best decision of my life. I finally knew who I was, where I came from, and where I wanted to go. I was 16 years old. The Gospel of Jesus Christ has been the guiding force in my life and led to tremendous happiness. Since my baptism, I have married in the temple, had four children, and 10 grandchildren. It is so rewarding to see my children and their spouses, happy and actively living their lives in the church. The principles they have learned through the Gospel of Jesus Christ have led them throughout their lives. My grandchildren are being taught to be honest, respectful, moral, and caring people. The dreams I had as a 16 year old girl, for myself and my family, have far surpassed anything I could have accomplished on my own.

How I live my faith

For nearly 20 years I served on a local school board as a trustee. Two years ago I retired from teaching elementary school. I currently volunteer at a local school organizing storage rooms for busy teachers. At church I volunteer as the Librarian each week. I organize materials, make copies, and help church members access technology. I love to decorate the church library for each season and holiday. It's so fun to have people come into the library and want stay for awhile. They often find something they didn't know they wanted. "Good morning, San Diego Temple" is a phrase I use often as a volunteer switchboard operator at the San Diego Temple. It's great to be the voice people hear when they call the temple. Being in the temple regularly helps me feel peace and love.
