Hi I'm Jean Allen

I grew up in the church and have a strong testimony through my own conversion process. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy reading, traveling, scrapbooking, family histories, horses and lunch out with friends. I have recently worked in the healthcare industry as a medical record coder. Currently, I stay at home and help take care of my aging mother and her needs as well as our home and animals while my husband works out of town during the week.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have studied and prayed about the doctrines of the Church and have had a spiritual witness from the Holy Ghost of the truthfulness of the Gospel. We are all mortal people that make mistakes but the doctrine is truth. Even without this spiritual witness, it is the only thing that makes sense to me in our purpose for being here. I am a very practical person by nature so knowing I existed as a spiritual child of God before I came to this earth and that I will have the opportunity to be with my family and Heavenly Father after this life brings great perspective as to what we are all doing here on this earth. The opportunity to come to the earth to have bodies, to learn, grow and to progress brings great meaning and purpose to life, especially when we are faced with difficult trials and challenges. I know Joseph Smith was a prophet and that the Book of Mormon is true scripture and a second witness of Jesus Christ. I'm grateful the Lord has blessed us in these days with prophets just as he did in days of old. Having the Gospel in my life gives me strength to endure life's challenges with faith and hope and gives me perspective amongst a tumultuous world. There is no need to fear if we follow God's plan and strive to live His commandments. There is great joy and comfort in knowing I am a child of God and he knows each one of us personally. There is peace in knowing I can personally communicate with God through prayer, that he hears and answers me. I can't imagine my life without the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Church of Jesus Christ is organized so that we all have opportunities to serve, grow in ways that help us both spiritually and in our daily lives in the many interactions we have with other people. When emergencies or calamities occur, the organization of the Church is able to assist and help others immediately which is another testimony of it's truthfulness and that it is directed by God. It is a great blessing in my life.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by being a good example to those around me. Through the years I have been active in my church through weekly Sunday meeting attendance. I've also tried to be a dedicated visiting teacher (one who visits assigned women in her congregation on a monthly basis to become a friend and make sure they are doing o.k.). I have had many opportunities to serve in the women's, adolescent and children's organizations through the years in various capacities. I also have tried to be an active parent volunteer in my children's schools. Being a good neighbor, co-worker and friend is something I always strive for.
