Hi I'm Megan Porter

I'm a Texas girl who loves snow and mountains :) I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My twin sister and I are the oldest of six kids. I grew up primarily in northeast Texas although I was born in Utah. Throughout high school I was very involved in band, where I played the flute and enjoyed the opportunity of being Drum Major of the Marching Band. I also love playing piano and singing along to disney songs. In my free time I enjoy playing volleyball, taking pictures, and spending time with family and friends. I am currently going to college at Brigham Young University in Utah and absolutely love it. I'm also preparing to serve a mission in Redlands California and am super excited! Along with its many hardships, I also love being left handed ;) My favorite thing to do is laugh!

Why I am a Mormon

Although I have grown up with the church my whole life, I have come to know for myself that it is true. There is no way I'd be where I am today without it. The knowledge I have gained from the gospel helps me daily through all the trials I've experienced. I know that we are never alone. Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ know each of us personally and love us more than we can ever imagine. I know there is a purpose to our life here on earth and if we do all we can to learn and grow from our experiences, we will have no regrets. The gospel give me hope, joy, and the assurance that everything will be okay. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints means everything to me. I would be lost without it.

How I live my faith

I decided to serve a mission because of my great love for the gospel and my Savior. I am so grateful for everything that I have been given, and want to share that joy with others. Taking 18 months out of my life to serve the Lord and other people around the world is just one way that I can show my dedication to the Lord. I also try to be considerate and sensitive to others. I notice other people around me and want to make sure that everyone feels included and loved. I know what it feels like to be alone and afraid, so I try to make sure that others feel they are special and noticed. I especially love being with the youth. Whether they are six or sixteen, they seem to have a special spirit about them. Watching a little girl bounce down the hallway or hearing a seventeen year old boy bare his testimony of the gospel always brings a smile to my face. I love when I get to teach them and share with them my experiences, hoping that they can learn something that will help them in their own life. I love being able to see them grow and the light that radiates from them. Some of the greatest joy comes from seeing others grow in the gospel.
