Hi I'm Kelsey

I'm a college student who enjoys the mountains, breakfast and fuzzy socks. Oh, and I'm Mormon.

About Me

I am a 20 year old college students attending Brigham Young University. My major is Chemical Engineering, but that is subject to change. Life happens. I play the piano, organ, violin, and I sing. I really enjoy playing tennis and the occasional run. Although I currently reside in Utah, I have lived in Oklahoma, Maryland, and Ohio. This gospel saw me through the awkward years of middle school and the dramatic times of high school. This gospel continues to see me through the challenges I face today. I have been called to serve an 18- month mission to teach the good people of Aguascalientes, Mexico! Being a child of God is not quite the same thing as KNOWING that you are a child of God. We all are children of God, but not everyone knows that they are a child of God. I will join 80,000 other missionaries as I answer the call to serve as a representative of the Lord, Jesus Christ and His church here on the earth: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I will proclaim these simple truths that I know. I cannot wait to share them with people of Mexico.

Why I am a Mormon

Yes, I grew up in this church. Yes, we went to church every single Sunday. Yes, I relied on my parents' testimonies of this gospel for years...but do I have my own testimony of this gospel now? YES. Although my testimony is my own, my parents had a little something to do with it. My parents know that I have a mind of my own, a very stubborn mind at times. They did not force their testimonies on me rather they instilled a desire for me to find my own. Over the years, I have found out for myself that this gospel is true. Through prayer and scripture study, I have felt the Holy Ghost confirm these truths in my heart. In the bible, the Apostle Paul explained that “The things of God knoweth no man, but [by] the Spirit of God” (1 Corinthians 2:11). I know the Bible is true. I know that the Book of Mormon does not discount or contradict the Bible, but rather the Book of Mormon adds clarity to the Bible. The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. We have modern day prophets that continue to guide us today. God sent prophets of old to teach His people. Why would he desert us now? The answer is simple: He didn't, He hasn't. I know that I am a child of God--a God that is merciful and loving. I find so much comfort in the knowledge that He cares for me. He cares so much that He sent Jesus Christ to suffer for our sins. Sometimes, I feel inadequate. Sometimes, I feel like I'm not enough. It is in those times that I remember that Christ died for me, for all of us.

How I live my faith

I grew up in the church so I had a lot of opportunities to serve. I have given talks, accompanied musical numbers, sang for musical numbers, and even played the organ for the Sunday church services. Aside from the home, this church has been the basis from which I learned vital life skills such as organizing events, speaking in public, leading others, and giving service. Although our church is organized, I love that speakers are chosen from the congregation. This allows us to be enlightened by all different types of people because everyone has a message to share.
