Hi I'm Shannon

I grew up in Arizona. I chopped cotton! I love being a mom! I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am a mother of 7 children. I have been married for over 25 years and love spending time with my family. We enjoy the outdoors, we live on a "hobby" farm where the boys milk the family cow, ride horses, participate in 4-H animal projects and of course own a family dog! I work along side with my husband doing his bookwork while he drums up new construction projects. I love going to all my childrens sporting events - gymnastics, dance, softball, volleyball, drill competition, baseball, football, soccer, wrestling and team roping - I have a very active family and I love watching them grow and develop!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up with parents who were married in Gods temple and have taught me the gospel since birth. I was baptized at the age of 8 years old. My dad baptized me and my grandpa spoke at my baptism, he sat me on his lap and talked to just me! I will never forget that wonderful feeling of love from my Grandfather, my dad and My Heavenly Father. I LOVE this gospel! It has been my life line. My faith has been simple, I know that my Heavenly Father lives and His Son Jesus Christ lives. I am happy! I love life! I recognize that my joy and happiness comes through living the gospel of Jesus Christ. I believe in His Plan - I'm thankful for my testimony. I have my first child serving a mission for the LDS church, what a blessing that has been. I have watched my child grow very close to her Savior. My daughter is out spreading the wonderful message that God Lives and his Son Jesus Christ was sent here to this earth to Atone for our sins. He wants us all to "Come Follow Him". I love to read her letters weekly and to feel of her enthusiasm for the Gospel of Jesus Christ is more than I could ever ask for! My testimony of my Savior is very important to me, it is something that continues to grow. The more it grows the closer I feel to Him. I know my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ loves Me! It's a great feeling to be loved and to know that you are never alone!!

How I live my faith

I am on my school community council and love working with the schools. I like to be where my children are. I also work with the women in my community, I go out visiting those that are sick, or those that need assistance. I especially enjoy visiting women on their birthdays! We just organized an activity with the women of our church and enjoyed a brunch and getting to know one another. I have also had the opportunity of teaching young children to sing - I love the songs that we have a chance to sing. The messages in the songs are very powerful. "If the Savior stood beside me, would I do the things I do?" How powerful is that statement and as the children sing, they start to develop their own testimony of Jesus Christ.

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

Shannon
Word of Wisdom - it is "words of wisdom"! We are taught that our bodies are temples and we need to take care of them. In taking care of them we are encouraged to eat healthy - grains, fruits, vegetables and to use meat sparingly. We should not take into our bodies things that will harm it - such as alcohol, tobacco, coffee, tea, illegal drugs etc. As we follow the Word of Wisdom it helps us to keep our bodies and minds strong and healthy. I have seen the affects that drugs have on a persons mind and body. Drugs, Alcohol, tobacco, etc. are literally chains that bind you, you become a different person when under the influence. Trying to remove those chains can be very difficult. If we will follow the "Words of Wisdom" we do see the promise that God promises - "Great physical and spiritual blessings." Show more Show less
