Hi I'm Lauren

I am spunky and stubborn, I believe that Heavenly Father is truly in the details of our lives, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Idaho and yes, I ate plenty of potatoes growing up! I am the second of four kids; seven including my step-siblings! I love basketball and golf. I can be extremely stubborn, silly and sensitive. I can't dance to save my life. I am currently studying Social Work. I have a sweet tooth, brownies are my favorite! And a severe addiction to milkshakes.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the church and I was baptized when I was 8 yrs old. When I was 16 yrs old, my mom struggled with her beliefs and ultimately decided to leave the church. Up until this point, my testimony was still balanced on my mom's and my dad's and I hadn't fully received my own. When my mom's testimony was taken out from underneath mine, it forced me to look deep within myself and find what I believed to be true. I really struggled through this. My scripture reading lacked and my church attendance was decreasing. I knew the church was true, that much I couldn't deny. But I questioned the trials that were being brought into my life and instead of letting Him help me through them, I all but turned away from Him. Though I still lived by the standards of the church, and believed in them, my testimony was taking a steep decline. When I was 19 yrs old, I decide to live out a childhood dream of mine, which was to live in Wilmington, North Carolina. I got in my car and off I went, not knowing anyone where I was going. I started to rely more and more on my Heavenly Father. It was through the church that I found friends. It didn't take long before my testimony was dusted off and started to blossom again. I finally knew for myself that this was His gospel in these latter days. My testimony is strong and simple. I believe in our savior, Jesus Christ. I believe he came to earth and died to save us from our sins. I believe that Joseph Smith was a prophet and was chosen to restore His gospel in these latter days. I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God, and along with the Bible, can be a source for answers as well as a comfort through hard times. I believe in eternal families. I believe in the power and guidance of the Holy Ghost. I know that our Heavenly Father is in the details of our lives. I know He knows us by name, He loves us, will never leave us, even when we have left Him. He will never give up on us, He will always be there awaiting us with open arms.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending my church meetings, reading my scriptures, and striving to live like Christ. I live my faith by showing compassion and love for all. I live my faith by forgiving others as I have been forgiven and by striving to be an example and light to everyone I come in contact with. I live my faith by helping in the community and in my ward through acts of service. I live my faith by fulfilling the duties of my callings and reaching out to those in need.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Lauren
To know that Mormonism is true, study the teachings of the church, including the Book of Mormon and give thoughtful consideration to what it is you are studying. Listen with your heart as you study. As you read the Book of Mormon and study these teachings, be open to feelings of peace, hope, comfort, or happiness as you do so. This is another way the Holy Ghost will tell you these things are true. Follow the commands so you can feel the change of heart and influence of the Holy Ghost. Ask Heavenly Father with a sincere heart through prayer. He loves you and wants to answer your questions. He will help to recognize the truth as you sincerely seek it and ask Him for guidance.
