Hi I'm Landon

I'm a college student studying to be a teacher. I live to be outdoors. I love playing every sport and game. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I'm what you would call a jack-of-all-trades but master of none. I was involved in many activities earlier in my life, but now have moved on to a better life. I live in the moment and try to do my best. I often fall short of my own expectations that I often set too high. I am currently attending college to become a high school teacher. I have had many experiences in my life that have shaped who I am. Some of them where in following the legacy my sister had set for me. The ridiculous, sometimes overwhelming expectations followed me everywhere. I met some of them, but others I fell way short of. Some experiences came through the thing I love most, playing sports. I made my schools basketball team after three years of trying out, only to break my arm three days before our first game of the season. It forced me to be the team manager for the third straight season. I also was asked to join a club volleyball team but did not have the money to travel to practices. It made me have to decline the offer. Grandparents did not play a huge role in my life as they passed away or were incoherent before or during my adolescence. I am glad for the journals they kept so I could learn about what they accomplished in their lives. They also let me know the legacy I have to uphold. Although these and other trials have happened in my life, I am so grateful for all that I have experienced and all that I have in my life. I have a loving family that is there for me and that I can be there for them.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have found all the doctrines to be proved true in my life and also seen how logically it all makes sense. I have seen God's hand in my life and the peace that he constantly gives me by abiding by living the gospel principles that he has revealed through both ancient and modern day prophets. I have felt the Holy Ghost help me make right decisions that have been right in line with the principles taught by Jesus Christ and re-emphasized by the living prophets. The big defining moment that allowed me to know that it was all true happened my first year in college. I was raised a Mormon but never really thought about what I really believed or what I knew was true and what was not. I was sitting in church contemplating everything that Joseph Smith had done in his life and all that happened because of him. At the end of my contemplation I had this feeling of peace and comfort. While feeling these sudden feelings, there was the phrase said in my head, "Joseph was a prophet of God and this is God's church. It is true It is true. It is all true". It was the Holy Ghost telling me what I needed to hear. I have never doubted the answer I received nor the ones I had since. I know that this is God's church and that "It is true." I have had so much joy and peace by being a Mormon. I wish everyone could feel the love not only I feel, but that my family enjoys as well.

How I live my faith

I go around making sure that those I meet are better now that they know me. I hope they feel that someone is always on their side. I try to be happy wherever I go even though some days it is hard. I try to lift others up when they are down. I try to be kind to everyone. I teach classes for the men in my young single adult ward even though most of the time they end up teaching me. I am not that in your face type of person. I am more passive and hope that no one gives me praise. I really don't like receiving praise. It is weird to me. I feel like I don't deserve any bit of it. I try to get away with helping someone out without them knowing it was me.

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Landon
The Mormon lifestyle is one of being happy, peaceful, but most of all fun. We are able to have good natured fun. We live according to God's laws which makes us happy. We don't go out and drink alcohol, wear clothes that cover what is supposed to cover. We have a more generous and helpful lifestyle as well. We help those out around us and try our best to do what is best for those around us. It is one that is centered around the family and helping it be stronger. Show more Show less
