Hi I'm Sheridan Heinrichs

I'm a wife, a mother, an interpreter, and most importantly, I am a daughter of God and a disciple of Jesus Christ.

About Me

Hi. My name is Sheridan Heinrichs and I am a dancer, a martial artist, an outdoor enthusiast who loves hiking, mountain climbing, kayaking, running, camping (to name a few), an independent innovator, an interpreter, an educator, a writer, and most importantly, a disciple of Christ, a wife, a mother, and a friend. I am married to an amazing man who has dedicated his life to serving others as a firefighter, and we have three beautiful children, one dog, a turtle, and a hamster. We love living in Alaska, chasing the northern lights in the middle of the night in the winter, and playing in the midnight sun in the summer. We love hiking glaciers, kayaking as a family, and doing taekwondo together. We love studying, living and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. We love helping out total strangers, and our friends often tease us about it. :)

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because it is "the only true and living church upon the earth today." Only within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints exists the actual organization and priesthood that allows us to make sacred covenants through ordinances such as baptism. Through such ordinances, I am able to more powerfully apply His atonement throughout my life as I strive to repent and have the opportunity to renew my baptismal covenants every single Sunday through the sacred ordinance of the sacrament. As one prophet said, "....we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophesies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins." I studied many different theologies for many different years, but as I studied and pondered deeply and then prayed over the Book of Mormon, I knew it was literally an ancient spiritual and historical record of people in the Americas that believed in, looked towards, and taught of Christ and His truth. As I studied the restoration of the gospel in this dispensation, I knew that Jesus Christ has restored His church and that we have a living prophet and apostles to direct anyone on this earth that is willing to listen to and heed their council, and that the Book of Mormon is a record of sacred scripture. I love that we have access in this day and age to the sacred record of the Holy Bible which represents one part of the world, and that we have the sacred record of the Book of Mormon to represent another part of the world. It is an excellent evidence that God loves all of His children and strives to allow all of them throughout the world to have His truth.

How I live my faith

One of my favorite poets, Hafiz, once said, "I am a hole in a flute that the Christ’s breath moves through, listen to this music." I strive to live my life so that I can literally be an instrument in God's hands to testify, through my words and actions, of His plan, His love for each of His children, and the eternal, all-encompassing atonement of His son, Jesus Christ. Being an instrument in God's hands is more than mere mentioning, it is literally living according to His will and putting Him at the center of your life. We are so blessed to live in a dispensation with access to His truth and His power through His restored church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I know that we are preparing the world for the Second Coming of our Savior Jesus Christ, and because of that, it is imperative that we spread the good news of His gospel so that every person is allowed and offered the opportunity to make and keep sacred covenants with Him and access the many blessing that He offers each of us who are willing to turn to Him and seek to know Him. I am so blessed in my life to be able to interact with so many different individuals in so many different realms in my life, and I hope that they can know Him better by knowing me. I hope that they can feel His love through the love that I show them, and that they can have a greater desire to draw close to Him as they see the joy and strength that He brings into my life in so many different ways.
