Hi I'm Amanda

I'm an aunt, little sister, and daughter. I'm a sewer, flute player, and poetry/ literature lover. And I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I enjoy doing many things and am always willing to learn and try something new! Some of the things I'm involved with include: singing, theater, sewing, flute, and writing. I developed a great passion for poetry and I love to simply memorize and recite special ones that I connect to.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon for some very simple reasons: I know that Heavenly Father is real, that he loves His children beyond measure. I know that Jesus Christ is our Savior and that He lives! I know that the fulness of His gospel, and therefore a fulness of happiness is found within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I don't just say that 'I know' these things- I truly know. One of the greatest things that I've done to come to this knowledge is read the Book of Mormon. I grew up reading segments and portions of the Book of Mormon, but there came a time in my life when I honestly doubted that this church was true. There were many things that I didn't understand about the church and I thought there were so many rules and obligations! I wanted to know more and started to really study and ponder the things in the Book of Mormon. I followed the instruction in Moroni, Chapter 10 verses 4-5 which states: "And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost. And by the power of the Holy Ghost, ye may know the truth of all things." Simple as that! I received a still, small, but powerful answer to my soul that this Book was true. That meant that the Church was true! Joseph Smith really was a prophet! And families really can be sealed together for time and all eternity through the power of the priesthood! What a great time in my life :) The more I serve in the church, read the Book of Mormon, and learn about Christ, the more I learn about how wonderful this church is. This is the right place to be!

How I live my faith

There is so much to learn about this gospel! Even though I've been part of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints my whole life, I strive to continue learning about Heavenly Father and my Savior Jesus Christ through daily scripture study, serving, and learning from my mistakes. I've had precious and life-changing experiences serving in the church by leading young women, teaching children, and helping others connect with their ancestors through Family Search indexing. I value the righteous example of others. Every day, I try to be a 'light' myself to those around me. I follow standards like modesty, honesty, integrity, service, and seeking wholesome entertainment. These aren't just rules that 'qualify' me to be a Mormon! They're real qualities and guidelines- when I follow them, I'm a better person and I have a greater portion of love to give to others!
