Hi I'm Shannon

I love people! (especially children) Each is so beautiful, so I'm becoming a teacher and a mother. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I recently became a wife and am trying to figure that out while attending the local university. I'm studying elementary education. I love children and want to help them identify and achieve their potential. Like most teachers, I enjoy reading. Hikes and walks rejuvenate me. I love sunrises, sunsets, and all of nature! Nature shows that God is an artist and proves that He loves us so much. He creates beautiful things for us to enjoy. Music is a big part of my life. I play the piano and flute, am learning the ukulele, and spun flags on the color guard line in the high school marching band. I love old music and movies. Nat King Cole is my favorite listen to. I've painted with oil paints a little bit and find it very relaxing. I like re-purposing random things and clothes. Sometimes my sense of style in clothes and decorating is a bit retro/vintage and sometimes quite different. I am pretty quirky and enjoy laughing and doing silly things with my friends and family. I enjoy being an aunt and look forward to being a mom!

Why I am a Mormon

I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints truly is the church that Christ established in his first ministry to the earth. My parents and church leaders taught me this as I grew up. My testimony has grown into this knowledge through much fasting and prayer, reading/studying/pondering the scriptures, faithfully attending church and seminary/institute, faith, and trying to live it. The Holy Ghost has witnessed many things to my heart. I choose to be a member of this church. I know Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost are living beings. Latter-day prophets are called of God and they truly speak for Him. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that through reading them with the spirit, we can truly receive answers to questions. I continue to be a Mormon because I am constantly full of joy, I know my family is eternal, life and the future is bright, if I hold true I can be with my husband for forever, I find peace and strength through Christ and the scriptures, I can change through Christ's atonement, I find happiness in serving others, and I know this is for everyone. I want to be filled with God's love and share it with everyone around me.

How I live my faith

I visit a couple of girls from my new married student ward. I'm new to our ward, so I don't know a lot of people. When I visit teach (chat, get to know each other, discuss spiritual things, shows Christ's love) and am visit taught I find new friends who are beautiful daughters of God. I love this. I help to keep track of the people who have and haven't been visited. As my bishop said, "It's not about numbers. I only care about numbers because those numbers are people." These people need to be loved. I know that we are God's hands on the earth to take care of his children. These are our brothers and our sisters.
