Hi I'm Kathleen

Born and raised in Southwestern Ontario, in love with dance, and excited to be alive. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Fourth child out of six. "Kat" for short. I was born in Southwestern Ontario and have spent my entire life there. From a young age, music has played an influential role in my life, with jam sessions being a normal occurrence in our living room and performance recital invitations being no surprise. Dance, middle school orchestra, theatrical performances, and so on - all of these contributed to who I am today, as did the quirky love that I have for math and spoken word poetry. Mom's homemade food is ALWAYS the best, and hot apple cider is the perfect answer to an hour-long snowball fight. Spontaneous road trips and ice cream trucks are two of my favourite things, but second to none is my family (A.K.A. my cheering squad and best friends of all time).

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in an LDS family, attending Church on a weekly basis and Primary and Youth activities throughout my life. Being Mormon was a regular part of my life, something I had known all along. There came a time, however, just as there must always come, when I began to wonder if what I had been taught my whole life was true. Despite what you may be thinking, this sort of internal questioning is quite intense. I began to wonder if God loved me, was He even real? How could I know for myself? I couldn't rely on what other people were telling me was true: I needed to know for myself. I was prompted, as Joseph Smith was so many years ago, to "ask of God, who giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not" (James 1:5). My answer didn't come all at once, as a strike of lightning might. Rather, my loving Heavenly Father reminded me that He was and always has been real and a major part of my life. He reminded me of what I had always truly known inside. "By small and simple things are great things brought to pass." I have come to know that my Saviour is indeed my Saviour and Redeemer. That He atoned for all of mankind, but also for me personally. He has felt my sorrows and my joys, my pains and my happiness. He and my Father in Heaven know me better than I can even fully comprehend, and Heavenly Father *does* answer prayers. This is God's restored Gospel on the Earth today and through it we can find everlasting happiness. I love it.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, preparing to serve in the Japan Fukuoka Mission. I will be serving for a period of 18 months. As a missionary, I have the opportunity to share with others what we, as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, believe and know about Jesus Christ. I have been set apart as a witness of Jesus Christ, called to share His glad message with all the world. This is an exciting opportunity, and I absolutely LOVE sharing the happiness that this gospel brings to my life with others. When it comes down to it, believing in Jesus Christ - regardless of what faith you may claim to follow - is a daily journey. As a Mormon I am blessed to be a member of a Church whose programs and Church services and activities all help us to draw closer to one another and fellowship in the faith, but more importantly they help us to draw closer to our Father in Heaven, and His Son, Jesus Christ. As I live my faith, each day becomes an opportunity to strengthen my relationship with my Father and Elder Brother.
