Hi I'm Rachel

I am a student of molecular biology and physiology. I am about to serve a mission in Northern California. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I plan to be a life-long learner. I fell in love with human physiology my junior year of high school and I still geek out about it! I've studying medicine at BYU for the past year. Right now I'm about to serve a mission for in Roseville California.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to parents that were already members of the Church. They openly taught gospel principles in the home and it always felt right, but when I was 13 I wanted to know more surely for myself. I needed to learn more about God's character and my relationship to Him. So, I took up the challenge offered by the Prophet Alma in Alma 32:26-27: "Now, as I said concerning faith—that it was not a perfect knowledge—even so it is with my words. Ye cannot know of their surety at first, unto perfection, any more than faith is a perfect knowledge. But behold, if ye will awake and arouse your faculties, even to an experiment upon my words, and exercise a particle of faith, yea, even if ye can no more than desire to believe, let this desire work in you, even until ye believe in a manner that ye can give place for a portion of my words." I made myself open and available to the Lord, and within weeks an intense spiritual tutorial began that built the testimony I have today. I know that God lives. I know that He is our spiritual father. I know that He loves us even more than we can comprehend. I know that He is anxious to bless us with the blessings that we stand in need of and desire. He will never forget or forsake us. I know that His purpose for us on this earth is growth, and that the sacrifice of His Son is the provision for this purpose to be fulfilled. I know that the testimony of the prophets is true. I know that Joseph Smith was one of those prophets. And because of these things I know, I will continue to learn and I will continue to serve all of my days.

How I live my faith

My faith has blessed my life. I decided to serve a mission so that I could introduce the gospel of Christ to others. But my primary objective as a missionary will be the same as what I already try to do in my everyday life: to learn to love and understand others better. This is integral to how I live my faith, for as our Savior said: "A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another" (John 13:34).
