Hi I'm Emily

I grew up in Las Vegas. I am a college student at BYU working towards a degree in art education. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest child in my family with 5 younger brothers--no sisters. In our home, there is never a dull moment. I enjoy meeting new people and making new friends. In high school, I was very involved with leadership and with art. I love sketching and painting, especially painting with water colors. I love to spend time with my family, especially time spent playing board games and baking together. Cooking is another favorite pastime of mine, as I love eating, and I enjoy in experimenting with new foods and flavors. My favorite treat is chocolate, especially dark chocolate. My parents have taught me many skills, such as how to garden, can food, sew quilts, and to have an appreciation for genealogy work. I enjoy riding four-wheelers and boating. I also love tubing, whether on the water or in the snow. I am an adventurous person, which is fortunate because I am not very good at directions, although I am very good at getting lost. I listen to all kinds of music, but my favorite artist would have to be either Michael Buble or Chicago. Rain makes me happy, which means puddle jumping is definitely an acceptable hobby for me. I started my own business making jewelry when I was fourteen years old. I also worked at a local grocery store in my town for two years during high school. Since graduating high school, I have moved to college and I am working towards a degree in art. I hope to someday be a mother and raise a family.

Why I am a Mormon

The gospel of Jesus Christ is full of hope and happiness. I continue to be a Mormon because of the peace that I feel as I live the way the gospel teaches. Through living worthily and faithfully, I know I can live with my family for eternity. My faith gives me direction and purpose to my life. I know that I am a daughter of God, and I know that He is a concerned and loving Father who guides me continually. No matter what challenge I face in this life, I know I can overcome all adversity if I trust in my Heavenly Father, who will see me through all the challenges I face. I know that the gospel was restored to the earth by the prophet, Joseph Smith. I know that God, the Father, and Jesus Christ both appeared to Joseph after his first uttered prayer. I know they knew his name, just as they know my name, and the name of every one of their children who has ever lived upon this earth. The Book of Mormon is a book of God. It was preserved for our day to testify of Christ and to give truth to those who seek for guidance. I know my Savior, Jesus Christ, lived and died for me. He is the Son of God, and he took upon himself the sins of the world so we might one day return to live with our Heavenly Father. I am grateful for his life and his example. I am grateful for the Holy Ghost, who helps to prompt and comfort me in my life. I am a Mormon. I know it, I live it, I love it.

How I live my faith

I am an active member of my church. My calling in my church is an activity leader. Every week, I am in charge of organizing an activity for the young single adults in my ward. I attend church every Sunday, provide service, donate money to charities through the church, and fulfill my calling as a visiting teacher, which allows me to visit with certain members in my church on a monthly basis as a friend and resource in times of need.
