Hi I'm Caleb

I grew up all over the US. I'm attending Brigham Young University intending to major in microbiology!

About Me

I grew up in Indiana and Utah, eventually attending and finishing High School in California. In high school I was a three year varsity football player and team captain for three years, I also played basketball, involved in student government and various clubs. After a bad ankle injury my senior year I decided I should just focus on academia. I attended Brigham Young University where I was majoring in microbiology, in hopes to one day enter the Medical Field. I have three brothers, two sisters, four stepsister and 4 nieces and nephew I adore more than anything in the world. I love to have a good time with friends and family, becuase those are the things that stay with you. I have giving up school for two years to serve a mission in Thailand where I will have the opportunity to serve the Thai people.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was eleven years old my father passed away suddenly from a heart attack while vacationing with my mother in Mexico. As a young eleven year old I had many questions such as why did this happen to me? Why does my mom have to raise six kids all under the age of sixteen on her own? Why do I have to grow up without a father? Really just why? I prayed so much and tried to read the Book of Mormon trying to find my answer. I tried and tried for months to understand. On night, near the time I was turning twelve I was in bed late one night, when I realized I hadn't read the Book of Mormon. I begrudgingly got out of bed and turned on my closet light and started to read. Within seconds I felt an overwhelming feeling of comfort and peace knowing that everything was going to be alright. That I wouldn't be left alone and God has not forgotten me. That if I continued live as righteously as I could I would be able to see my dad again. I wish I could tell you that I have lived a perfect life since then but I faltered a lot with other aspects but that testimony that I gained as an twelve year old boy has stuck with me and brought me back to Christ time and time again. This is a wonderful gospel all centered on love and family. It brings me so much joy and I cannot wait to share that with the people of Thailand.

How I live my faith

I lived my faith by serving those around me, trying to get involved with different community out reach programs, soup kitchens anything. I try to be a good example to those around me by doing and saying the things my savior would want me to do and say. I have decided to put a two year hiatus on school and life to serve a mission for my church in Thailand and I am grateful and humbled by that opportunity.

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Caleb
I believe the Bible is the Word of God that has few errors due to the number of times it has been translated over languages. This lead to the need of the Book of Mormon, which as its title suggest is another testament of Christ. I believe that the Book of Mormon testifies of the Bible and both testify of Christ. In 2 Cor 13:1 it reads, "This is the third time I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established." The Bible and the Book of Mormon are those two witnesses that establish the divinity of Christ. Show more Show less
