Hi I'm Alyssa

I was born and raised in the California Bay Area. I love my family, the outdoors, and new adventures. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am 21 years old. I grew up in the Silicon Valley in California. My favorite subject in school was always Math. I have a hard time turning away any puzzle, riddle, or challenge. I love hiking and exploring outdoors. I love sports and being active. I've always enjoyed art, drawing, designing, decorating, art museums, and getting creative. I'm not much of a photographer, but I love taking pictures, especially for memories sake. A picture is worth a thousand words, right? I am one of five children and I LOVE my family! My siblings are my best friends. I have attended college in California and Idaho and plan to continue my schooling in Utah. I lived in Utah for a year in the Salt Lake area and loved it there. The mountains are amazing! I work as a Nanny, but I am currently preparing to serve a mission in Independence Missouri. I like to spend time with family and try new things. Other things I like to do in my free time are reading, running, biking, and watching movies.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were both raised as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and so I have been blessed enough to be raised in it and was baptized on my 8th birthday. As I have grown up, I have seen the blessings that it brings to my life. In all my trials, I have seen time and time again how being actively involved in the Gospel has brought light into my life. It can turn a storm into sunshine. It doesn't always make my problems go away but it makes them bearable, it makes it easier. There is a comfort and peace that comes from reading the scriptures everyday and I just know that if I were to walk away from it, I would be leaving behind a huge joy and light in my life. It is so noticeable to me the difference of the way I feel, personally, on a daily basis when I am following the teachings of the church as best I can and continuing to progress vs. when I am slacking and maybe not doing all the things I should be. For that reason, my testimony is so strong and I will never be able to deny the truth and light that I have discovered in my time being a part of Christ's church.

How I live my faith

I have served as a teacher of the 18+ class for women in the third hour of church, as a teacher of the 4 year old class, and also as a teacher of the 6-7 year old class. I have served on the ward council and attended the weekly meetings on Sunday mornings to discuss things that we can improve and how we can make everything a better, stronger, and more uplifting. I have served on the activities planning committee and have helped put together a lot of church activities, including dances, craft nights, parties, service projects, etc. I serve in the temples on Saturday as I prepare to serve a mission for 18 months and I go to church every Sunday and participate as best as I can.
