Hi I'm Gloria

I was born in Colombia, I came to United States when I was 16 years old, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of 4 beautiful children and the wife of a wonderful husband, my oldest is serving a mission in IA. we are very proud of him, his mission has helped him grow and mature into a wonderful young man. I am a mother that is trying to go to school, so I can help others like me that came from another country become self-sufficient and share the gifts that the Lord has given me. I enjoy running, going on hikes with our family, reading, water skiing and cooking foods from all over the world. I also enjoy sharing the gospel that has brought my family and me so much happiness and want to share it with whoever is interested. But what I enjoy the most is being a mother and a wife, it has taught me so many wonderful things and it has made me a better person. Being a Mormon has really guide me in so many ways to be a better person, wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents belonged to the Catholic church. Two great young men came to our house to teach us a message that change our lives for ever. They shared with us verses form the Book of Mormon and the Bible, they told us about the prophet Joseph Smith and how he restored the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints here on earth. My parents read the Book of Mormon, my mother felt the book was a true book and that the stories in it were real, my father said that the teachings made him feel good in his heart, but he also felt fear because he had come from a very catholic family, and he thought that he was betraying his parents beliefs and past religion. After sincere prayer and fasting, my whole family became members of the church 41 years ago. I have been able to feel in my heart and learn by myself that this is the right church, by the great examples from my parents and the great teachings at our home. My parents were very loving, kind and understanding and taught us to be kind to everyone, to love everyone, no matter where we all came from, they taught us that we are all equal and we are all loved by the same Creator and Heavenly Father no matter what. These are a few of the principles that our church teaches us. When life has gotten hard and tribulations come, we have felt the love of our Father in Heaven and he has made our tribulations lighter, the members of our church have been always there to walk with us during hardships, and we are there for them, there is love and sincerity from them. We are here on this earth for many wonderful reasons, and my favorite is to help each other and to serve others, you will find so much happiness and joy by doing this, your sadness will disappear, your hardships will become lighter, you will truly be happier. I love this church, I feel love for others, and there is no way that my life would be this blessed, If I didn't know that God is real, that Jesus is real and that The Book of Mormon is as real as the Bible.

How I live my faith

Being a member of our church has taught me to gain more knowledge and wisdom. I have had the opportunity to teach children, young women, and wonderful ladies in our church, but I have learn more from them and have found joy in them. I have been able to also learn from the older and young women by visiting with them, I have learn from their wisdom and advice. Our children have learn about great morals and values in their classes and activities, they have learn to respect and get along with others by sharing time in youth activities. I have been able to feel love and acceptance from the members. I have learn to have peace and happiness by learning about the plan of salvation, knowing that some day my whole family can be together for ever has brought me so much joy, and that I will be able to be reunited with my ancestors that have died, and that is so wonderful to me. Reading the Book of Mormon, has answer so many of my questions that I have had since I was a little girl, I know is a true book and I know it came from real people in the ancient times with out a doubt, I have felt it in my heart. It has also taught me to be a better mother and person, I feel that the people in the church has become my family any where you go, any chapel you visit in any country, we are there for each other and we share the same beliefs and always have something in common.
