Hi I'm Jason

I'm a husband, a father, and a CPA

About Me

My wife and I met at school and have been together for five years. I'm a father to a beautiful little boy and a girl on the way, which has been a difficult change but a rewarding one as well. I enjoy a variety of sports and I enjoy reading studying U.S. history as well.

Why I am a Mormon

I have gone through both periods of faith and periods of doubt since I have been a member of the Church. The Lord will refine you at any stage of your faith as that is the purpose of our existence. This can be frustrating to some who will leave - I have had close friends that have left. I never have because I cannot doubt feeling the Holy Ghost and receiving answers to my prayers about the truthfulness of the gospel. The way to know if this is the Church of God is to study the teachings contained in it. Our creator wants all of His children to draw closer to Him, but in mortality we are in a fallen state and walk by faith and that is the way mortality was designed to be for our growth and development. There are ways we can feel his presence though, and I have seen that in my own life.

How I live my faith

I enjoy sharing the gospel with others (missionary work) as it helps me to enhance what I already understand about it. In this faith we believe that truth is everywhere, not just within the walls of our chapels and that God desires for everyone to live true priciples and that we will be happy as we do so. By participating in missionary work I not only get a chance to build on what I have already found to be true priciples, but I am also able to share with others truths that, if applied in their lives, would bring them peace, hapiness, and understanding. The Church was restored with the same organization that existed in the primitive Church of Jesus Christ, with apostles, evangelists, pastors, teachers, etc. all of which are not paid or who choose to do these things as a profession, but who are called to this work as a service to God. We have no paid clergy. That allows the members to all bear the responsibility, but blessing, of teaching and serving. I have personally taught youth as well as adults at church meetings on various occasions. I was also a full-time missionary for two years in Dallas, Texas which gave me the opportunity to find and teach those who were interested in joining the Church. During my mission I also helped at nursing homes, spending time with the elderly by playing games and conversing with them.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Jason
I believe God is real for many reasons. One reason is a tangible feeling I get from time to time that I describe as warmth and a tingling sensation that feels like someone is wrapping their arms around me to comfort me. It moves through my body almost like electricity and my hairs will stand on end. This feeling has come to me both in times of despair as well as in times when I am pondering about the gospel or just experiencing life as it is. Any time I feel it I feel like everything is going to be ok, like someone I cannot see is there for me. From a religious perspective I understand this to be the Holy Spirit, who is a messenger of truth and comfort sent from God. I have not been able to find any other explanation for this feeling and believe it to be communcation from God directly to me letting me know that he is there and is mindful of me. I beleive that not only is he there, but that he is my literal father and I lived with him as a spirit before this life and will see him again after this life. Show more Show less
