Hi I'm Colten

I'm from Idaho. I'm a student. I'm a missionary, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love adventure. I am grateful to be a student; I enjoy learning in STEM, and Political Science fields. I enjoy being out in the Lord's creation, particularly: exploring, climbing, hunting, fishing, trapping, and backpacking. I've lived in Idaho all of my life. I am currently serving a mission in Las Vegas, and I love it. I have learned how much I enjoy serving others, and I hope to continue that. After my mission I will be pursuing a career in law enforcement. In the Doctrine and Covenants we learn: "the Glory of God is intelligence." I love to learn and hope to make education an integral part of my life; however, learning can prove to be an arduous challenge at times, and it requires persistence and faith.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been in spots of my life where adversity and trials seemed rather overwhelming. Adversity has been placed in all of our lives for our eternal benefit. With the gospel of Jesus Christ we see an eternal perspective. Perhaps, if we take a step back and look try to look at the whole picture, we will better understand why we experience the trials we do in life. I know that the trials I have gone through have helped me grow -- they have been stepping stones that have allowed me to press forward in faith. The companionship of the Holy Ghost has been a fundamental foundation in my faith. The Spirit has confirmed to me, without a doubt, of every truth I have pondered and have learned. Because of this gospel, I know the purpose of my life. I know the game-plan and whose side I am on: the Lord's. It has been a foundation for me to grow in my education. I have learned that I have been given talents to help serve others, and as I use my talents righteously, they will grow, and expand progressively. The Atonement of Jesus Christ has allowed me to repent and receive forgiveness, while experiencing a change of heart -- becoming better! I know that Jesus Christ lives, he has a modern day prophet that leads his church on this earth. The restored Gospel of Jesus Christ makes sense, it is perfect in every way. If you want to know of the truthfulness of this gospel, then simply pray with a humble and open heart. Then put in the effort to learn for yourself, as you do the Holy Spirit will be there to confirm truth unto you.

How I live my faith

Discipleship does not come easily. It requires a strong conviction and faith in Jesus Christ, with a yearning for personal improvement; however, the road of discipleship starts where we currently stand. As we yield to the promptings of the Holy Ghost, we will find peace, understanding, and guidance. To be disciples of Christ we must, as Peter, “cast away our nets” and seek to put first the Kingdom of God. This can be done by putting Christ at the very center -- and forefront -- of our lives. We must learn to bridle our passions and seek to strive to do better continually. The Lord will consecrate our efforts as we earnestly pray to Him. We will receive the fruits of our labors as we strive to become like Christ. Charity will be manifested in all we do, and virtue will garnish our thoughts. If we are humble, and drink deeply from the Words of the Lord in the Scriptures -- we will learn all that we must do. Currently I'm a Missionary. This work has been very special, as I have had the blessing with working with people of various backgrounds. I have had the opportunity to sacrifice my time to serve other people. It has required integrity by gaining and holding the trust of others. It has required courage amid trials, or fears. I have learned accountability to leaders, myself, and the Lord. Respect of individuals, and families and their culture, background, beliefs, etc. Finally, I have learned of excellence. I have strived to push myself in every aspect of missionary work. Ours is the responsibility and blessing of serving others and teaching them. It’s a wonderful opportunity to see the Lord’s love manifested to all in this great and marvelous work.

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

Colten
The Book Of Mormon is collection of writings from different ancient prophets. It was abridged by the prophet Moroni, a Prophet found in the latter part of The Book of Mormon. It is another testament of Jesus Christ, and that He lives. It shares fundamental doctrine of the Lord given to prophets through revelation from God. If you sincerely read and pray about the Book of Mormon, in Moroni 10:4-5 it teaches those who earnestly seek -- with full purpose of heart -- of it's truthfulness, the Holy Ghost will bear record as a witness of its truthfulness and the divinity and reality of Jesus Christ.
