Hi I'm Cheryl Jackson

I love my family, being outdoors, photography, sports, reading, traveling and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small town in Utah where we played night games, rode our bikes and spent lazy summer afternoons rafting on the pond. I loved growing up there. My parents are two of the most incredible people who taught me to work hard, do my best and always be nice. I have five brothers who were my best friends and little buddies. I attended BYU-Hawaii and BYU and graduated with a BS in Elementary Education. While in college I got set up on my first blind-date. Eleven months later I married that man in the Salt Lake Temple. 17 years, 7 moves, 3 degrees and 6 children later, he is still my rock, my best friend and the love of my life. My children are my greatest joy. We have four boys and two girls. They keep me busy and happy every day, even when parenting is a challenge!

Why I am a Mormon

Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints shapes my life every day. It gives me direction and help when I make decisions, especially in raising my children. I know my life has purpose. Heavenly Father loves us so much that he sent a Savior who would teach us how to live a life filled with goodness and happiness. Jesus Christ's sacrifice allows us to be forgiven of our sins and one day live with Him again. I know that Heavenly Father loves and knows me. I know that he hears and answers my prayers. I know this because I have felt his love and peace during times of hardship and struggle and have been the recipient of blessings and miracles, usually through other people who have stepped in to love and serve. I love reading the Book of Mormon and the testimonies of our Savior. The Gospel of Jesus Christ brings peace and joy when I live its principles. I love that I can be with my family forever!

How I live my faith

We say family prayer, read the scriptures and the kids look forward to weekly Family Home Evening nights where we sing songs, have a gospel lesson and often play games or have treats. It's about spending time together making memories, building friendships and strengthening our belief in Jesus Christ. I am currently the leader of the young women's group in our congregation. This organization helps young women develop faith in Jesus Christ and prepare for the responsibilities that will come later in life as leaders in our communities, and in their own families. For the past two years I have had the privilege to spend time with young women ages 12-18 every Sunday and Wednesday night. On Sunday we meet together at our church. We study the life of Jesus Christ and discuss the ways following Jesus's example impacts our lives. There are eight principles that we try to teach to the girls which are: Faith, Divine Nature, Individual Worth, Knowledge, Choice and Accountability, Good Works, Integrity and Virtue. It has been such a blessing in my life to see the girls growing to be strong, happy and confident young adults. The world needs more youth with high moral standards, resolution to keep the commandments and a desire to make the world a better place!!
