Hi I'm Desert Mulford

I'm a hiker. I'm a musician. I'm a missionary. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I was born in Canada, and raised in a small town called Delta, Colorado. I did two semesters at BYU-Idaho, and I am now on a mission in the California Ventura Mission. I love hiking, chess, and jazz piano.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into, and raised in the church. A few years ago, I attended a youth "camp" on the BYU campus, called EFY. On one of the days, I attended a seminar about the Savior's atonement. The teacher of the lesson said something along the lines of this: "There is line right here next to us on the ground, and Satan is on the other side. He tempts us to cross the line, and he gets us to start by just putting a toe across. The next thing we know, we are on the ground on the opposite side, with Satan standing over us and laughing. Where is Christ in this? Is he standing over us, extending his hand and waiting for us to grab it, or is he on the opposite side of the line, calling out to us? Neither. He is right down there next to us, experiencing the exact same pain, and suffering just as hard." That was the day that I felt the Spirit for the first time. Up until then, the church was just facts. I hadn't grown to know that any of these things I knew were really true. But that day was when I realized that these weren't just stories.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by example, and by searching. I search for opportunities to tell others about my beliefs, and to remind others to always focus on Jesus Christ. I am constantly looking for opportunities to serve others, and represent Christ in the process. I am now on a mission, bringing the world the Gospel of Jesus Christ. That is how I am showing my Father in Heaven my love for Him- by serving His children.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Desert Mulford
Often, there are questions that arise about Mormons, and what we believe about Jesus Christ. Instead of talking about it, why not just demonstrate what we believe about him? There is no better way to do that than to represent him in all we do. I always strive to be like him, and to always keep him in my thoughts. To demonstrate Christ, we try to live as he did. We try to love like he does. To be a representative of Christ is one of the best ways to convey our message, without having to stop you and tell you about it. Show more Show less
