Hi I'm Mackenzie

I'm a dancer, cook, and soon-to-be missionary in Tacoma, Washington! And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the youngest of seven children and absolutely love it! The happiest moments in my life are when I'm surrounded by my family. They are truly my best friends. My relationship with my parents became even stronger when I moved to Cambodia during my last year of high school. Moving to Cambodia was definitely hard, but it has shaped my life in a way I never could have imagined. I am currently attending college and am pursuing a major in dance, with an emphasis in Folk Dance. I love being able to learn about different cultures and share them with others through my dancing. I am a quiet person, but I feel like I am really able to communicate and bring tremendous joy to others through my dancing. I also love to cook and bake healthy foods and create my own recipes. I can't wait to share that knowledge and love with my future family. When I'm not in the dance studio, in the kitchen, or doing homework, I love to read, water ski, travel, and star gaze!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in a Mormon family, but I did not become an official member of this church until I was baptized at the age of 8. I did not become a Mormon simply because my parents told me to, or because all of my siblings did. I am a Mormon because I want to be. I know with all of my being that this church is true. The world and all of its reasoning and logic will say that God does not exist, however, I know by the power of something greater than reasoning or logic that God lives. I have felt His Spirit penetrate my soul, and to me that is the most powerful and true evidence that exists. I know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ live and love me and every person who has ever, does, and ever will live. I have felt this love so sincerely through prayer. I know that Heavenly Father hears and answers each one of my prayers. What a wonderful blessing it is to be able to pray whenever and wherever to my Father above. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is good news! It fills me with so much peace and joy, despite the sorrows that exist in the world today.

How I live my faith

In order to truly live my faith it is important that I understand and know for myself what I have faith in. I do that by studying my scriptures and praying daily. By doing those small, simple actions each day I not only strengthen my own faith, but I am able to help others increase their faith by being an example of Christ. One of the most fundamental and important ways that I can live my faith is by emulating the characteristics and actions of my Savior Jesus Christ. Small things such as cleaning the kitchen for my roommates has increased not only the love I have for my roommates, but also for my Savior. By trying to live the way that He did, I gain a greater appreciation and love for Him. Serving in a church calling has enabled me to live like Jesus Christ did even more. I currently teach a group of sisters in my local church group. I love being able to bear my testimony and faith with these sisters. My own faith has increased as I study the lessons I will teach them. Through this calling I am able to feel a very small fraction of the love that Heavenly Father feels for each one of us.

What are Mormon temples used for?

Mackenzie
LDS temples are used to receive ordinances and make covenants (or promises) with Heavenly Father that allow us to return to live with Him again. We also can be sealed for time and all Eternity with our families so that we can live with them forever. Also, we proxy for the dead so that they can receive the same ordinances. Show more Show less
