Hi I'm Mike Bolokoski

I was born and raised in Calgary, AB Canada. My favourite pastime/passion is playing guitar and singing. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 20 years old and love music and the gospel of Jesus Christ. I am a missionary for the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Back home in Calgary I graduated from high school and what I loved most of the experience there was seminary, choir and time with my friends. I am in a band with my best friend at home and we are putting that on hold while I serve The Lord for two years. I grew up as a member of the church. My family has always provided an environment for me where I could always be close to the spirit whether or not I let myself feel the spirit. The gospel of Jesus Christ is the one 100% solid thing in my life and nothing has kept me more grounded and comforted as much as that. I am serving my two year mission in St.George Utah and though I know that it will be a very difficult experience I look forward to it and I know that it is part of our heavenly father's plan for me.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents raised me in this church, I was baptized when I was 8 and have always regularly attended church. But even though I have been blessed to be in the church my whole life I have also seen the redeeming light of Jesus Christ's atoning sacrifice in my own life as well as those around me. The reason I choose to stay a member of this church is because I feel and see the blessings of living the gospel in my life and it makes me want to continue. When I have made poor decisions in the past I have felt the lack of light that follows I strive for the companionship of the spirit because with the spirit I feel comforted, I feel safe, and i feel happy and where ever I go I will be guided.

How I live my faith

In our church where we teach children until they are 12 is referred to as Primary. While preparing for my mission I was able to teach 8-11 year old boys in primary. I believe this experience was an amazing opportunity for growth for me. While teaching children I realized how innocent and curious they are. With things pertaining to God and Jesus Christ the questions they ask may be simple but they can also be among the questions which are the deepest and most complicated. They did not ask to stump me or to satisfy their lack of faith but it was of pure desire to know more. They also speak out of turn, lose focus, talk to each other while I would talk, build space ships and forts out of chairs and try their best to drive me nuts. Though I realize I am that exact same way when being taught sometimes and amidst all the chaos when I would bear my testimony they would listen. Having them ponder the gospel of Jesus Christ is all I could ask.
